Newsletter Week 1, Term 4
Huirangi Primary School, Monday 17th October 2022
Kia Ora Koutou, Hello Everyone!
It is hard to believe there is only 9 weeks left of school, and 10 weeks until Christmas! Welcome back to you all.
This term is jam packed full of fun! It is a particularly important term for our Year 6 students, who prepare to leave us to continue their learning journeys at intermediate in 2023. Term 4 can be emotionally and socially challenging for our Year 6's, but we are here to support them as best we can, and know that they will leave Huirangi School very well prepared for the future!
Over the break I had contact from two groups of people wanting to come and visit us at Huirangi to hear the back story of the classroom name changes, murals and signage upgrades we have had this year. They are also wanting to have a look at the teaching and learning happening in our kura. This is a real honour, and I feel very proud to showcase Huirangi School to other educational professionals in our province.
Please note the upcoming events and dates that are at the bottom of the newsletter and pop them onto your calendar. These next 9 weeks will certainly zoom by!
This weekend is Labour Weekend, and there is no school on Monday.
Ngā mihi nui,
Natalie Looney
Principal
Keeping Ourselves Safe
The aim of the programme is to:
- teach students a range of safe practices that they can use when interacting with other people, both online and face to face
- teach students how to recognise the difference between healthy and unhealthy relationships, and encourage students who have been or are being abused to seek help
- prevent abuse by making parents and teachers more aware of their responsibilities to help students avoid abuse.

Paul’s kōrero use stories, history, humour, experiences and a good lashing of common sense.
