There is no two ways about it. The workload is high, expectations are high and desire to do the right thing for our learners is high too. This means we also need to keep the morale high.

Marketing Request Form
If you have a need for any marketing materials including brochures, web pages, adverts, posters, social media campaign imagery or any other marketing jobs you need to complete the following form.
There is 4 weeks notice for all jobs except for social media requests which require one week notice. Before placing a request be sure to discuss your request and agree it with your Faculty Director , Head of LSS or Director of Operations. You can also email Trish on email@example.com

It is with mixed emotions I write in the last issue of Engage as the Principal and CEO of our College. You have been inspirational in the way you braved the waves of change and transformation that we navigated through over the last two years. I have nothing but admiration for the work that you do and will leave our college in the safe hands of Louise Misselke supported by our dedicated and committed Board of Governors, under guidance and advice of the Education, Sports and Culture committee and the Education services.
I count myself extremely fortunate to have had a chance to live on this beautiful island and work with you and on your behalf for the last 2.5 years. I will take many fond memories with me and I wish all and every one of you the very best of luck for the future.
We have worked tirelessly, together to bring about the changes that has been essential to build the foundation of our journey to excellence over the last two years. Be steadfast, be true to your values and keep doing what you are doing for our students. They are why we do what we do and I am sure you will never lose sight of what is important.
As always I am humbled and grateful for all your kind messages since the announcement of my departure from my post. Your professionalism, kindness, generosity and willingness to get behind the changes at the college is simply remarkable.
My last message on this last issue of engage for the summer is be brave, be kind and keep going. The best is definitely yet to come…. Down to you to make it happen.

College news: The week that was!
Important info from HR
Salary payments for Lecturing staff
Following discussions with the UCU and other staff side associations, agreement was reached earlier this year to change the salary arrangements for lecturing staff. Previously, staff received a double payment in July and then nothing until September. With effect from this month, staff will receive their normal salary in July and again in August. There will be no effect on rate of pay or any other aspect of your remuneration.
Sickness benefit vouchers
With effect from 1 August 2016, the arrangements for the processing of personal sickness benefit cheques will change. More information to follow.
Up until now, anyone in receipt of sickness benefit was required to send the cheques to the Hub. In future, you will be able to retain the cheque and payroll will deduct an equivalent sum from your pay between 4 – 6 weeks following receipt of the cheque. It is hoped that this will strip out some of the double handling of the cheques and enable resources at the Hub to be used more effectively.
The management and operation of sickness absence reporting will be covered in the CFE Staff Development Day on 31 August.”
It is vital that staff report their sickness to Line Managers for recording in SAP (by emailing their Line Manager over the Summer break if necessary), and essential that Managers record this info on SAP. Managers - if you are not sure of the process, please contact your Manager to ensure you have the relevant guidance/training.
News from IT
Prepare for the summer!
Over this year’s summer break IT Support will be upgrading all workstations to Windows 10. As many of you will know we have already begun upgrading all staff devices to Office 10 and some open access machines such as Library and drop in rooms. Please feel free to visit these areas to familiarise yourselves with the changes.
- Microsoft Office will also be upgraded to Microsoft Office 2016.
- Abobe Master Collection will be upgrade to latest Creative Cloud edition (this may happen earlier).
The full college wide managed print service is now finally just around the corner following a long wait! Several more managed print devices will be installed around the college in central locations. Once these are all in place we will gradually run down all stocks of printer consumables and retire off all standalone and old room based printers. Further information will be circulated as new managed print devices are deployed.
Coinciding with this will see the introduction of additional software that will extend printing to:

Print directly from Google Apps for Education

swimarathon... College Team - SAVE THE DATE!
As I was the Captain of the Swimarathon Team last year, I have received and email inviting us to enter a team for this, their 40th Anniversary – same time, same day (although year later!) and same lane. The date is set for Saturday 10th October at 1pm in Lane 1 (Nice lane with wing of the pool attached so no need to get out of the water and ladder access at the deep end!). If you would like to take part this year, please let me know – pencil in the diary and I can send sponsorship forms later on in the year.

- How about rotating managerial positions (not a pay increase attached) but time allocation to do the job). Then colleagues would be able to develop and be in an experienced position to apply for more senior positions in the future.

Every year Learners in the Access Department perform a tribute of remembrance at the Performing Arts Centre, and this year the performance is called ‘Diary of an Evacuee’ by Gillian Mawson.
We are looking for someone in Guernsey who was evacuated themselves, to record a voice over our script. Our learners will perform to this voice over on Thursday 10th November, at the Performing Arts Centre.
The recording needs to be completed between now and the end of the summer, so that when learners return in September we can get on with devising the action.
