Dear families,
We are having a great time teaching and learning at Walker School! Now that many students are back on campus we are all working together to share space with one another.
We teach all students to use the “Stop, Walk, Talk” strategy below when they encounter someone being unkind or unthoughtful. We find that this strategy empowers students when they experience something negative. It also reminds them to let the adults at school know that something happened so we can address the issue right away.
Please remind your child about utilizing this strategy at school so that all of our students feel safe, welcome, and included.
- Stop: Tell the person to stop what they are doing. (Ask your child to show you the hand signal for this. Students can use both the signal and the verbal prompt, or just one of the cues.)
- Walk: Walk away.
- Talk: Talk to an adult.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me for questions, concerns, or celebrations.
In Community,
Tiffany

Walker & District Updates
COVID Updated from District Office
Yesterday the CDC released new guidance related to fully vaccinated individuals and the use of face coverings and physical distancing.
Governor Brown issued a video statement on how this new guidance will be implemented in Oregon. In her statement she shared, "Nothing is changing for schools this school year, and I expect education staff and students to continue to wear masks and physically distance, as outlined in our Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance." This also applies to all other individuals on school campus, including but not limited to: family members, volunteers, visitors, SROs, and other partners.
ODE is currently working with OHA on guidance for next school year.
BUS Loop
As you know, we have asked our 4th and 5th grade families to use the bus loop for drop off and pick up. Please make sure not to enter the bus loop until after 8:15 am or 2:55 pm, or when the bus loop sign states that the loop is open. The buses need ample room to maneuver, and they can't drive safely when there are cars in the bus loop. Please only drive on the right hand side of the lane and do not attempt to drive around the buses or other cars. Please also remind your children to use the sidewalks and crosswalks. To ensure student safety, students may not cross the bus loop to leave campus. Thank you so much for your help in keeping our community safe!

Our Wolf Pack Needs Your Help!
Right now, we are all dealing with the impacts of the Covid 19 Pandemic. While we are all in the same storm, we are not in the same boat. Our current funding sources are running low, and we could use your help!

100% of donations will go directly to purchasing food and supplies for our families in need.
If you are a family in need, please reach out directly to your child's teacher, or Tiffany.
