WHY USE SNAGIT?
With TechSmith Snagit for Google Chrome you can take screenshots or screen recordings of anything on your screen including your browser, desktop, and applications you have running. TechSmith Snagit for Google Chrome will share your screen, so you can share your ideas and insights with anyone you’d like.
THE CHALLENGE
Install the Snagit extension to your Google Chrome Browser and enjoy sharing your screen, creating quick videos, and allow for feedback. For CREDIT, you will need to snap a picture of you using Snagit OR upload a video that you created and share the picture on twitter using the #HeritageExplorers and #HEtechChallenge hashtags.
Directions
Get Snagit
Go to the Google Chrome Web Store
Search for Snagit
Find Snagit on the list
(It should be the fourth one down, it is labeled TechSmith Snagit)
Click on Snagit, a new window will open
Click the blue button on the upper right hand corner that says “+ add to Chrome”
A new pop up window will open and it will say “cancel” or “add”, click Add.
Now Snagit will be automatically on your Google Chrome Bar.
Using Snagit
When you are ready to use snagit, click the Snagit icon on your Google Chrome Bar
A black bar will appear on the right side of the screen.
The first three boxes allows you to capture a still image on your screen.
The first box captures only what you want. (Region)
The second box captures the visible screen (Visible)
The third box will capture a scrolling screen (Scrolling)
The bottom box allows you to capture a video on your screen.
Capturing a Still Image
Once you have captured an image it will stay selected and will be lighter. If that is the image you wish, click the blue camera.
After clicking the blue camera button, a new tab will open up with your image.
From here you can add arrows, shapes, and text.
If you want to change to color of text click the small little triangle in each box.
At the top name your image.
To save your image go down to the bottom to the blue box with the three white circles in it.
You can copy the link or download the image
Capturing a Video
Click the Snagit Icon in the Google Chrome Bar, the black side bar will appear.
Choose Screen NOTE: If you want sound in your video, make sure the microphone below the screen does not have a slash through it.
A pop up window will appear and will ask what screen you want to capture
Select the screen you wish.
After selecting your screen it will automatically begin recording.
When you are finished recording your screen, hit the blue Stop sharing button towards the bottom of the screen.
A new window will open with the video that you just created. NOTE: The longer your video the longer it will take to sync.
After fully syncing, give your video a name.
To save your video go to right and select the blue box with the three white circles in it. You can save to Google Drive or send it to YouTube.
NOTE: All of your images and videos that you created will be save into a Google Drive folder labeled TechSmith.
