AZMERIT TESTING THIS WEEK
BONUS PROGRAM INFO: Arizona requires all high school students to take AZ MERIT Exams in Math and English Language Arts (ELA) as well as the AIMS Science Exam. Performing well on these exams is very important and validates the academic performance of our students. Chandler High wants to encourage and recognize students who perform well on these exams by awarding them “BONUS” points onto their overall grade in the second semester for the class in which the exam was taken. For example, if you end the semester with an 82% in English, but score “proficient” on the AZ MERIT ELA Exam, your grade will be bumped to a 92% and you will earn an “A”. Below is a breakdown of the program. Bonus points cannot be used to pass a class if the student is failing at the end of the semester. Students in IB/AP classes can use either the AZ Merit Bonus Points or IB/AP Exam Bonus points but cannot use both.
Proficient and Highly Proficient – 10 points
Partially Proficient– 5 pts
AZ MERIT Math
Highly Proficient and Proficient -10 points Partially Proficient – 5 points
AIMS Science
Exceeds or Meets- 10 points
