Teacher Spotlight
This week's Teacher Spotlight is Nina Wetzel. Nina grew up in Oak Grove, Missouri, and went to college at the University of Central MO. She teaches K4- 4th grade P.E. Mrs. Wetzel is married to Jack, and they have two children, Guy who is in 6th grade and Wynn who is in 3rd grade. Mrs. Wetzel also has one dog and one cat. In her spare time Mrs. Wetzel enjoys working in her yard, planting flowers, lifting weights, and exercising. In high school Mrs. Wetzel played volleyball, basketball, and was on the track team. She also enjoys watching her children play sports. Her favorite Bible verse is Joshua 1:9- "Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, neither be dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with you wherever you go." When asked who is someone she looks up to, Mrs. Wetzel said, "I've always looked up to my dad. Both he and my mom have set such a wonderful example of how to raise a family and live a Christian lifestyle." We all love Mrs. Wetzel and the fun she brings to CCA. -Audrey F.
Survey Says:
This week, the survey question was: Would you rather play a board game, or put together a puzzle? Board Games won by a landslide; 88 votes out of the 112 students and teachers surveyed went towards playing board games. This could be because board games are typically played with two or more people, whereas a puzzle can be completed by one person. Whatever the reason, CCA enjoys board games! -Audrey F.
Happy Birthday Students & CCA Staff
We hope you all have a very blessed Birthday! -Audrey F.
New for 2024: Devotion Corner
The Fruit of the Spirit is Kindness, Isaiah 63: 7-9 "I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us..."
Taken from www.todaydevotional.com, Kindness can be described as a friendly, generous, considerate disposition toward others. But, sadly, this trait can be elusive in our everyday world--especially where there is a lot of competition. When we look for kindness in our world, we can find it, but we also tend to find a lot of unkindness.
Isaiah tells about the kindnesses of God and all that the Lord has done for us. Already in the garden of Eden we see the kindness of God to our first parents. God had warned Adam and Eve of the fire consequences of disobeying his command. When they disobeyed anyway, they became aware of their guilt and were afraid. But God displayed at least two great acts of kindness. First, instead of bringing about the punishment of death right away, God promised to send his Son to take on the ultimate punishment for sin.
Second, God took care of Adam & Eve's immediate needs and gave them clothes to wear. From that time forward, God's kindness has been on display as he points to his Son, Jesus, the Savior, as the way of forgiveness, restoration, and full life forever.
In the month of January, CCA students, teachers and staff are working on the character trait "Kindness."
