What we are learning in Room 12...
This is the area of the weekly newsletter where parents/guardians can be informed of what is planned for our week. If your child is going to be absent, please let me know in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - This week, we will continue to learn about our new unit -- geometry and measurement, Module 4. We have been learning about area and area models.
- Reading - Every Tuesday from now until the AIR test in April will become "Test-Prep Tuesday" and we'll learn how to read passages and answer questions on the test. We are also learning about text features and text structures in class. This past week, I introduced a new FREE website to our class - Epic Books! Students can read online books in class on our computers.
- Writing/Spelling - Spelling words will come home on Monday, this week's spelling pattern is r-controlled vowels (words with ar and or). For writing class, we are continuing our next unit about informational writing. Your child has chosen a topic and we will continue our research this week. Students are allowed to bring in books from home about their topic if they wish.
- Science - We will continue to learn about soil by reading a book about soil and examining soil, silt, sand, and clay.
