Media Center Instruction

Students will receive standards-based lessons in the media center at least twice a month throughout the year. Their first visit will feature an orientation, followed by an introduction to the digital citizenship curriculum that will be taught to all students in Kindergarten through 5th grade in August and September. Students will learn how to be responsible digital citizens in the real world. Explore the link below to learn more about digital citizenship.

Book Check Out Policies and Procedures

Students have the opportunity to browse for and check out books during each scheduled class visit to the media center. In addition, students may select books independently anytime between 7:10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Kindergarten students begin the year with one book as they learn how to borrow books. Students in 1st through 5th grade may have up to three books at a time. The borrowing time is two weeks, with an option for one renewal. Students with an overdue item may not check out new materials until the late one is returned. All students may also borrow two eBooks at a time via Mackin VIA by following these simple steps:

1) Type in school name: Findley Oaks

3) Username: Student ID

Same as Lunch Card Number

4) Password: Student Birthdate--mmddyyyy

"Book" with Mrs. Rubin" Reading Appointments

Appointments are held daily from 7:10 to 7:35 a.m. To sign up, fill out the "Reader's Survey" using link below. Once a survey is completed, Mrs. Rubin schedules the appointment and e-mails the date to you.

Wandoo Reader

We are excited to announce the return of our virtual "Read-a-Thon" program. This year's theme is: "Every Hero Has a Story." Wandoo Reader is a online reading log and game. Students submit the title of a book and number of pages read. With each submission on the log, students earn "credits" to play the kid-friendly superheroes game.
