iBoss: Web Content Filter
January 11th, 2016
Web content filtering is needed to ensure that we are protecting our students from inappropriate content and in line with CIPA. While we must protect our students, we also want to make sure our teachers have all the resources they need to be successful in their classrooms while using technology. In order to do this, we need to lessen the total bandwidth being used on sites that are not productive or necessary in our educational environments. iBoss will allow us to prioritize educational sites to both increase security and speed. Unfortunately, we have had to block sites such as Pandora, and others, in order to meet the requirements to successfully run programs vital to our students education, growth, and success. However, to ensure that you as an educator have access to the sites that are important to your instruction we have created a Google Form for you to submit the URL's for these sites so that they can be evaluated and added to our whitelist (sites marked for approval). Please submit your URLs no later than December 30th for whitelist consideration. After December 30th the form will close and if you have further concerns or websites to suggest, please email our helpdesk at firstname.lastname@example.org. If any of the sites submitted do not meet CIPA compliance, then they will be blocked after January 11th.
Thank you for your time and participation in this process.
