November Character Trait: GRATITUDE
The result of numerous studies suggest that gratitude not only helps young people form, maintain, and strengthen supportive relationships, but it also helps them feel connected to a caring community.
Due to this, throughout the month of November, Sequoia Middle will be celebrating GRATITUDE in multiple ways. Next week we will start our “Wall of Gratitude”. This is an opportunity for students to write on post-its what or whom they are grateful towards. This is a powerful, reflective, visual that remains up during the entire month. Several students and clubs are also participating in Random Acts of Kindness to share their gratitiude. This year they choose to focus on their teachers. (Shhhh…teachers don’t know!)
Having a sense of purpose and gratitude for life gives youth a compass for creating a meaningful life. As adults, it’s our job to help our kids discover their passions and to find a path to purpose that resonates with them— with their values, interests, and dreams.
