JHGWIR Update: Molly Wizenberg in Toronto
The Stratford Chefs School’s host of the 2016|17 Joseph Hoare Gastronomic Writer in Residence program, Elizabeth Baird, will introduce the evening - a culinary conversation with Molly Wizenberg of “Orangette” fame and Canada’s mother/daughter duo, Lucy and Emma Waterman.

The School launches its 2016|17 Season on Tuesday, October 25th with the commencement of the Stratford Chefs School Classics Dinner Series - inspired variations on 30 years of favourite Stratford Chefs School recipes executed with great skill and passion by our second year class.
Dinners run Tuesday to Saturday

Faculty Update
Melissa Graham
Melissa worked for many years as an actor, which means she also worked in the restaurant business! She has waitressed, bar tended, managed, dish washed, food prepped, and catered. She also taught ESL for many years, has studied creative writing, and worked in new play development. She has worked at the Stratford Chefs School as founder Eleanor Kane and Chef Baxter’s T.A. One of Melissa’s favourite jobs was teaching English to visiting Michelin Star chef Riccardo Camanini. Melissa is really excited to be teaching Writing and Communications at the SCS this year.
Matthew Hartney
Matthew is an Architectural Designer working in professional practice for PLANT Architect Inc. in Toronto, Ontario and is in the process of fulfilling the requirements for licensure with the Ontario Association of Architects. He has over four years of professional experience on projects ranging from large institutional buildings and urban design projects; private residences; art installations; industrial and graphic design; and landscape architecture. Matthew has also completed numerous freelance design and construction projects, with a focus on restaurant design. Prior to his architectural career, Matthew attended the Stratford Chefs School, graduating in 2002.
The SCS wishes both Melissa and Matthew all the best in the upcoming year.

2016 BMO Scholarship Winners
The BMO Financial Group Scholarships recognize and assist students who demonstrate a dedication to improving their knowledge and skills in the culinary field and who are making a contribution to the culinary communities in which they study and work. Awardees demonstrate community involvement in a community volunteer program(s) in the culinary field, such as Slow Food, Feast of the Fields, Second Harvest, Meals on Wheels, a food bank, or a charity fundraiser like Empty Bowls or Soup’s On.
