Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Thursday 29th March 2018
Wishing you all a happy easter
Today many people buy hot cross buns in supermarkets without even thinking of their symbolism. The same can be said for Easter eggs and simnel cakes. We try to explain to children the origins of these traditions and the importance of the Easter story. Canon Ailsa and Rev Caitlin reminded us of the events of Holy Week on Wednesday at our Easter Service. We learned about the events of the Last Supper, how Jesus served by washing the feet of His disciples. The teachers washed the feet of children during the service to demonstrate this.
I hope that this Easter you get some quality family time, share your Easter traditions and find a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Easter and the hope it brings.
Have a great Easter break and we will see you all on Monday 16th April.

A time for celebration
Celebrating learning this term
Spring Exhibition
Last Friday we were joined by parents, carers and friends for our Spring Exhibition. This was an opportunity for the children to share how and what they have been learning this term. The children learn through REAL projects. These are Rigorous, Engaging, Authentic Learning experiences which give a real context and purpose to learning.
create a brazilian carnival
Year 5 kicked off our exhibition in carnival style with a procession. They have been learning about Brazil and presented much of their learning in the hall.
Create a Medieval Classroom
Year 1 created a medieval classroom. This included dressing up, building castles and using herbs to make plague bags. We welcomed Master David from Bolton Castle who brought artefacts and his knowledge of Medieval times.
create a car showroom

Year 3 created a virtual world which showed what they had learned about early Britain. You can view their virtual world by following this link
