Letter From Your President
It is with great excitement that I welcome you to the 2016-2017 Callison school year. My name is Katrena Plummer and I the proud mother of a 5th grade Callison Cougar, Colin Plummer, and also your 2016-2017 PTA President. I have been married to my loving husband, Christopher Plummer for the past 11 years!
I’m excited about the new year and can’t wait to enjoy all the things the PTA has planned for this year! A few PTA Board members had the opportunity to attend the annual Texas PTA Launch Seminar in San Antonio. We learned a lot and came up with some fun ideas for the school year. Teachers, staff, and parents we can’t do it without you, so please consider joining the PTA and volunteering a few hours.~Katrena

How long have you been involved with Callison PTA?
I have been with PTA a year.
What made you want to get involved?
More than anything my kids. To get connected with the school being aware of what was going on. Also to meet new parents.
What grade are your kids in?
5th and 2nd grade
What is your favorite part about working on the PTA?
Getting to work with some amazing ladies. My kids get so excited when we have an event and they see Mom getting involved. Seeing all the students and families enjoy an event that I helped in.

Java Joes
Our big fundraiser this year is Java Joes. Buy coffee and help support all of the programs that we put on at Callison. Callison PTA is fortunate enough to be able to put on all of our events for free, help pay for field trips, teacher appreciation and much more.
Help us to continue to provide all of these events with your support of this fundraiser.
All orders are due September 19th.
Please contact Adriana King callisonptafundraiser@gmail.com for more information.
Little Free Library Corner
Callison will be participating in the Battle of the Bluebonnets this year. If a student reads all the books on the 2017 Bluebonnet Award list, they can try out to be on the Callison team. The battle takes place in February at the Dell Diamond. There is plenty of time to start reading. The school library has 2-4 copies of each of the books.
My favorite Bluebonnet books so far are Echo by Pam Munoz Ryan, Roller Girl, by Victoria Jamieson and Ratscalibur, Josh Lieb.

Stay Fit With Cal Club
by Nurse Linda Hughes, Health and Wellness Chair
The Callison Active Lifestyle Club (CAL club) returns this year. Open enrollment for membership to Cal Club begins August 29th and ending September 23rd.
Membership is free. Last school year we had a tremendous response from the students, parents and staff. This year we will do things a little differently, with monthly challenges, prizes and winners, the challenges go all year long with a grand prize winner at the end of the year.
Enrollment forms will be sent home in your child's folder, we will also have some at the front office and in the nurses office. This is a fun , interactive way to get the whole family involved.
If you any questions email Nurse Linda : linda_hughes2@roundrockisd.org
Growing in our Garden
Thanks to a grant in the 2015-16 school year, gardens at Callison were designed to be beneficial to birds, butterflies, pollinators, and our students. The main garden by the front entrance is a sensory garden, with a variety of shapes, textures, smells, and colors. The other gardens are butterfly gardens. They provide both nectar for adult butterflies and food for butterfly caterpillars. Most of the plants in the gardens are native to Texas. For more information please visit the Callison Elementary PTA website or email Charlotte at creemts@tnc.org.
