Important Reminders
- Welcome to the weekly newsletter! Please read this letter each week to learn about important updates in our classroom, school, and to find out what your child is learning about!
- Scholastic Book Orders are due online by September 15th. You can order online with Scholastic, and the code to help our class earn books is NDJXN. Orders are submitted monthly, online only -- I do not accept paper orders or checks, sorry. Thank you for helping our class earn free books!
- There are no special events or assemblies happening at school this week.
- Thank you to those parents/guardians who signed up to help out in our class! It does not have to be in person, it can be "behind the scenes" too. If you did not fill out the parent volunteer form but you meant to, please contact me.
- Please make sure you are signing your child's spelling practice test homework once a week. It goes home on the first day of the week and is always due on Fridays. Homework began last week and you will see a new homework assignment sheet in the back flap of your child's take-home folder on Tuesday. Thanks for your help!
Thanks,
Mrs. Reiber
Special Awards
Congratulations to Shayana for earning the VIP chair this week in our Class Dojo behavior system!
Happy Birthday!
There are no birthdays this week. Stay tuned for next week when we have quite a few!
What we are learning in Room 12...
If your child is going to be absent, please let me know well in advance if possible, so I can send make-up work with them.
- Math - Students are learning about counting equal groups in multiplication and division problems! You can help your child at home by reviewing "repeated addition" and skip-counting with them. We are also singing songs to help us remember our multiplication facts - ask your child to sing for you!
- Reading - We are going to start our Daily 5 stations in completion this week! The students have showed me they are ready and I am so proud of how independent they are. If you have volunteered to sign up to help out during reading centers, I will be contacting you soon. Our "Book Clubs" will also begin this week.
- Writing/Spelling - This is our second week of spelling words, the pattern is "long e" words. The words will be in the back of the yellow take-home folder and the test will take place on Friday. In writing class, we will review parts of speech, proper grammar, and how to write a complete sentence.
- Social Studies - Our first unit is about citizenship and government. Citizenship assessment scores will be coming home this week. We will continue the unit by learning about the local government in Tallmadge!
