Last week was our benchmark! Once progress reports come out if anyone as any questions about the Standards Based Grading policy at OMS I will be happy to explain. Please know that progress reports are NEVER the final reflection of your student's grades. Progress reports are just a glimpse into what's going on.
Last week we learned about the Atom and did some pretty cool simulations in the process.
This week we are answering the question of What is Matter?
If you are on Twitter, make sure to follow us @oms_spin to see some really cool stuff going on in Spin Class.

I hope everyone had a wonderful three day weekend! This week in ELA we will be wrapping up the study of our standard on the interaction between plot elements in the reading of Rikki Tikki Tavi by having a test on Wednesday. Our second book analysis is due tomorrow..I will give students an extension this week (only) because of the holiday. Students should be reading 20 minutes a night and completing a book analysis weekly - due each Tuesday! Parents can find all the information for this on my website.
We will have our first school wide literacy lesson on Thursday. We will be reading an article about Joan of Arc that goes along with their studies in Historical Literacy. We have another busy week!
Shout outs to ...
Anslie Hopkins and Millie O’Boyle for always going above and beyond to help out in my SEL class. ❤️
Have a great week!
Love,

Dear parents,
I hope everyone had an amazing memorial day weekend! We have a lot of big things happening this week. Tomorrow is the homecoming football game. To celebrate for that we have spirit days this week! Tuesday is school spirit, Wednesday is twin day, Thursday is Hawaiian day, and Friday is favorite character day. Please encourage the kids to dress up!
Last week we learned about how to add and subtract integers and this week we will practice applying it. Tuesday is a little different, however. All of seventh grade math students will be doing a literacy lesson. They will read a math related article and dissect its meaning. It is a great experience for everyone. Tuesday and Wednesday we will be the practice days in the form of stations. I have some really fun and creative projects for them to work on that will be being hung up around the room. Lastly, Friday will be the second CFA and the students second grade for the year.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.
