Session 2: Self-Awareness and Self-Management: Building Capacity to Influence Behavior Across Contexts

Self-Awareness and Self-Management go hand in hand to support students’ ability to recognize and understand how emotions influence behavior. Both practices drive learning, behavior, health, and social skills. Ultimately, self-awareness and self-management are closely linked. For example, being able to stop and calm down when one is upset (self-management), requires skills like recognizing and labeling the emotions and considering how they might be affecting one’s behavior choices (self-awareness). This session will take a deeper dive into sharing strategies that can be put into place inside and outside of the classroom.
