Summer Update 2015
OES Library Update
Aloha!!!
I hope this newsletter finds you well and enjoying a well-deserved break. I will be sending you a newsletter periodically to let you know what is going on in our "learning hub" and to share information that may be helpful to you and your classes.
UPDATE: Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge
I am proud to say that as of today (June 8th) we are ranked 693 out of over 4,335 participating schools world-wide! Our student participants have read for a total of 9,875 minutes as of today. It seems that our strongest readers are our in-coming sixth graders! (Way to go 5th grade teachers!!!) I am pleased with the participation in this challenge and look forward to our school participating in it for years to come.
Teacher Tool Spotlight: ClassDojo
ClassDojo is a unique behavior monitoring tool that uses icons, sound effects, and immediate feedback as its basis. Once your behavior expectations and rosters are entered, the program comes to life. Points can be given or taken away easily for positive or negative behavior. Students receive instant feedback through sound effects whenever points are given or taken. Another unique aspect of this program is its ability to analyze behavior data and create reports. Lastly, special codes allowing self-monitoring are available for teachers to share with students and their parents.
