The Clayton Ridge Website Got a Major Update

Check It Out!

Our hopes are the new website makes the site easier to navigate, more accessible to those with disabilities, and a lot more modern to look at. The website is device-responsive, so be sure to check it out on all of your devices. Remember the mobile version is "lighter" than the tablet or computer version.

You can visit the new site at the old domain: www.claytonridge.k12.ia.us or the new domain www.claytonridgeschools.com.

Welcome to Clayton Ridge!

Who wouldn’t want to come into Clayton Ridge Elementary every morning with two smiling (under the masks) faces of our welcoming kindergarten teachers!

On other mornings, CRES secretary, Michele VonHandorf greets elementary students as they arrive.

Wearing Many Masks

A friendly smile behind that masked face, is Lynette Pritchard, district social worker who has also taken on the role as shuttle driver! Another example of Clayton Ridge staff wearing many hats, or masks, to make this a safe and great year for the students!

Special Staff Treat

Long time Clayton Ridge supporter, Elaine Stocks of Garnavillo, recently treated the elementary staff to warm caramel rolls, fresh from her oven!

Bicycle Safety Winner

Elyzah Bries, a thrid-grader at Clayton Ridge Elementary, was the winner of a bicycle from the Guttenberg Police Department. Officer Hoyenheim presented the bicycle to Elyzah after a drawing of all elementary students in the district. The Guttenberg PD was unable to hold its annual bicycle safety rodeo this summer and wants students to always practice bicycle safety and wear a helmet. Elyzah is the daughter of Brian and Kelsey Bries.

Taking Class Outside

Students in Mrs. Werges and Mrs. Scott’s reading lab took students outside this week to read and enjoy the beautiful weather!

Avery Dettbarn, an eighth-grader, studied science outside to enjoy the fresh air!

Number Line Magic!

Mrs Palmer's Math class learned about the "Middle Magic Number" on number lines. We lined up and figured out which student was in the middle.

Restroom Renovations

Elementary students will be in for a surprise when they return to school. A group of their dedicated teachers wanted to spruce up the restrooms and offer some affirmations and encouragement. Mrs. Petty and Mrs. Cherne used their creativity and Cricut skills to design the vinyl to decorate the restrooms. Mrs. Thomas and Ms. Pritchard painted the girls’ restroom and assisted with hanging the sayings. We hope the students will enjoy the new look! We are anxious to return to learn and let them see the new look!

Whatever It Takes, We'll Do the Best We Can!

Clayton Ridge staff displays how they are willing to do whatever it takes to insure students are safe at Clayton Ridge Elementary. When the kitchen staff was quarantined the school nurse, guidance counselor, associate and superintendent jumped in to organize and serve a great hot lunch! A big shoutout to local businesses in Guttenberg and Garnavillo for stepping up and assisting the school with providing food for the students! #eaglestrong

What's New at the Guttenberg Library?

Nancy Ruzicka
Youth Services Director

What is new at the Guttenberg Public Library?
Well, a lot!
Just like everyone else, the Guttenberg Library has had to make some adjustments to our hours and how we operate during our open hours because of Covid-19. Our temporary hours are Monday - Friday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. We offer curbside pick-up also, Monday - Friday and Saturday 10;00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. Just call us and we'll get your books ready for you.

Our children's programming has now gone on-line to the Guttenberg Public Library Facebook page. Our next story time will be available on our Facebook page on September 18th.

The library will also be continuing our Grab-N-Go craft bags. We will have them available again starting September 14th. We will have 2 different age groups of crafts available. Pre-3rd. grade and 4th - 8th grade. Stop in and grab one!

We have had a very busy summer here at the library. Our shelves are jam packed with new books! We also have a new Graphic Novel section! We will be posting our new books on our Facebook page.

Thanks to Katherine, Laurel and Margaret Breitbach and family we now have 4 VOX books available for children. VOX books are audio books that take a regular picture print book and turn it into a all-in-one read-along. You simply push a button to listen and read along.

Hope to see you soon!
