Please send home the letter regarding the Belk Tickets and the 1st 1/2 of school Dodge Ball Tournament. At least one teacher from each grade level needs to stay with kids who don't buy tickets either to play or watch. Start thinking about who will stay, who will pay to play and who with watch the watchers. |

Discipline
I hope that each of you enjoyed your Labor Day Weekend. To be sure we’re on the same page I want to recap some things from Wednesday’s faculty meeting. The highlights are as follows:
My role at Challenger Elementary is an Instructional Leader which is tied to discipline.
From my observations I don’t see Challenger as having a lot of discipline problems. The districts' paradigm shift with discipline and many other things is a lot to digest. However, I am willing to assist all of you in any way I can to be sure we are doing the right thing for our children.
Under the guidelines of the new HCS Student Code of Conduct:
· Class I Offenses should be handled as much as possible within the classroom.
· Document everything you do with behavior problems in your classroom.
· RTI for behavior is a part of the policy.
· Once a teacher exhaust all resources and their classroom discipline plan of four to five consequences/steps, a discipline referral should be written. There are certain circumstances that warrant a different avenue of action. (IDEA, medication problems, etc.)
· Parent contact is essential to resolving behavior issues and document this contact.
Keep abreast of what is in the Behavior Learning folder in Edmodo.
Someone suggested sharing the different strategies you try in your classroom that work. If you are doing something that works for discipline, send me an email about it and I will put it in the Challenger Dispatch.
