Mariner Spotlight-Ellen Earixson

Oh hey there! I'm Ellen Earixson and this is my fourth year teaching first grade at Perry Harrison. My husband, Dan, and I moved here from Minnesota in 2018. We live in Carrboro with our son, Soren (3) and our cat, Parmesan. I love to travel, bake, and spend time with my little family. Prior to moving here, I taught for a year in kindergarten and first grade. I also am a lifelong Girl Scout and worked at my local council for 5 years prior to teaching. I earned my Masters of Arts in Education with an emphasis in STEM from St Catherine University in 2016 and hold a Bachelor of Social Work from University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.

Fun Facts about me:

- Olives are my favorite food. Hot dogs are a close second.

- I have rollerbladed 5 inline skate marathons and will be skating my 6th this fall!

- I have bungee-jumped off the Bloukrans Bridge in South Africa.

I love being a part of the Mariner learning community! My favorite part about teaching first grade is seeing students grow and listening to all of the wonderful, weird things they have to say.
