LATINO ADVOCACY CLUB

Some members of the Latino Advocacy group are scheduled to attend the Latino Summit in Indianapolis on Tuesday, November 13th. The group plans to leave SHS at 6:15 am and will return by 6:30 pm. The event will provide Latino high school students from across Indiana with valuable information on getting to and through college. Students will attend workshops such as: How to Choose a College that Best Fits Your Needs, Financial Aid 101, and What You Need to Know About the Transition to College. Additionally students have the opportunity to experience over 40 Indiana Higher Education institutions. With access to resources via panels, roundtable discussions, and leadership development sessions, students will excel at attaining post-secondary achievements.

The group is proud of the t-shirts they have ordered. The maroon colored t-shirt supports all cultures with the following quote from Cezar Chaves on the back of the shirt - ""Preservation of one's own culture does not require contempt or disrespect for other cultures"

December 16th finds the group having their Christmas party complete with Loteria (Mexican Bingo) food, drinks, a voluntary gift exchange and dodgeball.

Officers for the group are: Melissa Dubon, President, Gina Flores, Vice President, Alexandra Gonzalez, Secretary, Lil Payne and Jonathan Escobar, co chair of activities.

FCA

The Raider FCA gathered on Friday, October 12, during Impact period for some camaraderie and friendly competition. Our Raider FCA Exec Team put together a trivia using Kahoot where 15 teams competed for bragging rights and some candy prizes. A good time was had by all as we packed the room with fellowship!
