WHAT'S HAPPENING

We would like to share a couple important messages with our parents:

Over the last few weeks, we have seen some great examples of Bison Pride. Many grade 8’s to 12’s have been helpful and welcoming to our grade 7’s. We’ve seen our older students help point new students in the right directions, help with lockers or answer any questions. Our Student Council is also in gear and has welcomed and have organized some great activities for the herd.

That being said, unfortunately, we have seen a significant increase in vandalism. We would appreciate it if parents could take some time to remind their children about the importance of respecting school property. Sadly, this is a result of a Tik Tok challenge which has caused issues in many EIPS schools.

2021 Yearbooks Are In!

The 2021 yearbooks are now in. If your student ordered a copy last year, they can pick it up from the office before school, at lunch or after school till 4:00pm.

Student Parking Passes

If your student filled out the online Google form for student parking, the passes are now available and can be picked up from the office.

Student Forms

There are several forms on the PowerSchool Parent Portal that must be completed for your student. These are:

  • the Student Safety Contract - new students and all grade 7 and 10 students, and
  • the Students Responsible Technology Use Agreement - for grades 7-12 completed yearly.

To review the list of forms available for each child in your family, click on the Forms tab in the left-hand menu in the Parent Portal. You can review and submit the form for each applicable student by clicking through the student name tabs at the top of your screen.

Note: Forms in PowerSchool often do not display properly in Internet Explorer. Please use a different browser to review and complete the forms for your family.

Thank you for completing these.

Update Your PowerSchool Information

The "Correction and Verification Form" is now available online through your PowerSchool Parent Portal. Families can use the form to access and update their child’s information—including address, parent and guardian information, emergency contacts and any medical information. Reviewing the form and submitting updates ensures the school has the most up-to-date information regarding your child.

If you’ve recently moved, now is the time to ensure the Division has your updated address information. In particular, please also pay close attention to all phone numbers, email addresses and emergency contact information. The Division will undoubtedly continue to have important information to communicate with families throughout this school year, and we want to ensure you receive this information. If you haven't already done so, we ask all Ardrossan Jr Sr High School families to review their child’s PowerSchool information as soon as possible.

FREE APPLICATION DAYS FOR INDIGENOUS STUDENTS

For the first time ever the University of Alberta will be offering Free Application Days for Indigenous Students. This initiative was developed in the spirit of reconciliation and in honour of Residential School survivors with the goal of increasing access to education for First Nations, Métis, or Inuit learners. In alliance with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Free Admission Days will take place from September 30 - October 6, 2021. See Mr. McKinnon or Mrs. Boake.

Students can find more information, including access to application support workshops, at uab.ca/fnmi
