PK 4.3 - Weekly Newsletter
Dear families,
Welcome to the new year of 2018!
We hope you had a relaxing and joyous time with family and friends. Our students are excited to be back and we can already see so much growth; both physically and socially.
We began the week by sharing and illustrating what we did over the break, as kids took their turn at the ‘microphone’.
As you are aware, adjusting to routines again after such a long break is not easy for anyone :). Therefore, we need to be flexible as we remind the students of the regular rules and schedule of the classroom.
The new year brought a lot of new things for us and now we have a new greeting song and a new one to help us learn the days of the week. We also got the Technology Area during Choice Time, vwhich has been a huge hit so far. In here, the kids will be exposed to the use of our class iPads and work their English Acquisition, Literacy and Math skills. Social Emotional skills like taking turns and sharing have been part of this process too! And the children have demonstrated how good they are doing that with this new Area :)
The Discovery Area also got an upgrade and now we have a MAKER SPACE and everyone is encouraged to create their own things!
Next week, we will begin our study on ROCKS! Children love to explore and collect objects outdoors and, surprisingly, there is so much to talk about with rocks! Hopefully you will see it for yourselves in the following weeks :)
Objectives of the Week:
Demonstrates fine-motor strength and coordination
Demonstrates writing skills
Participates cooperatively and constructively in group situations
Regulates own emotions and behaviors
Remembers and connects experiences
Have a wonderful weekend!

Shoot for the moon...
We started a new semester and we are acknowledging that in just a few more months, we will move on to KINDERGARTEN!
Having a class discussion and bringing back some memories about our journey in PK4, made us think about common goals that we want to have and things that we have to work on as a team to be able to "go to the moon!"
We also wrote down these goals and agreed to do our best to accomplish them and signed it with our finger prints.
Solving problems in PK 4.3
We brought in the "Wheel of Choices" (thank you Dori!) to offer alternatives to try, before coming to me for support. Let's see how it goes! I would also like to invite you to try them at home in case there is needed!
Reminders
2. If you still have not send bedding for your child, please send it on Monday so that is easier for everyone to get settled back into routines.
