Principal Connection - A Note From Mrs. Seniura:
Hello Dorr Families,
As we break to spend time with family and friends please take a moment to review the morning drop off procedure below. Keep in mind that this procedure was developed thoughtfully and with your child's safety in mind. We are all busy, but need to keep student safety first at all times. Remember to take an extra minute now, to save a lifetime of regret later! We appreciate your cooperation!
If you're planning to have a "staycation" this Spring Break, here is a great resource with lots of ideas for families.
2021 Spring Break Staycation Activities
Wishing you a wonderful and restful spring break. We look forward to seeing our students again on April 12, 2021.
Best Regards,
Mrs. Seniura
REMINDER: Please DO NOT park and walk your student across the parking lot!
The flow of traffic is constant in the drop off lane and crossing is EXTREAMLY dangerous.
Once parents have dropped off their student, the student will be greeted by an adult and directed to the door. There they will be given assistance, if needed, to find their classroom.
Due to expected traffic increase in the Drop Off loop we will extend the drop off time to 8:55am. If you arrive after 8:55am and the drop off door is closed, please bring your child to the office vestibule and sign them in.

Mr. Augustin Answers Your Tough Questions
Recently I sat down with Mr. Augustin to learn a little more about him. He shared some interesting and fun facts. He is already so popular with our students. We are so lucky to have him. Read our Q & A interview below and get to know Mr. A!
Tell me about your family
My wife, Meghan, and I live in Wayland. We have two daughters; Rowan is six (Kindergarten at Baker) and Hadley (Preschool at Baker). We have one dog named Remus.
Tell me about your background (where you came from etc)
I grew up in Whitehall, Michigan. After high school, I attended Grand Valley State University. This is my tenth year in education. I started out teaching High School at Edwardsburg High School. Eventually my family moved back north when I received the position to teach at Plainwell Middle School. My last two years have been spent at Thornapple Kellogg Middle School as the assistant principal and teacher.
What is your favorite thing to teach?
English and English Language Arts has been the area in which I have taught the most. I enjoy teaching students skills associated with reading and writing as well as having in depth discussions about literature.
What are you excited to do at Dorr Elementary?
Getting the opportunity to work with the students, parents, and community of Wayland and Dorr.
What is something really important you want parents to know?
I just want to thank them for everything that they do. After my first week here, I can honestly say that the kids here at Dorr are absolutely amazing! They also have some phenomenal teachers that they get to work with each and every day.
