(Annoying) Robo Calls
We. Are. Sorry. For. The. Strange. Calls. You. Have. Been. Receiving.
Actually, in all seriousness, we are apologetic for inundating you with repeated information in the form of phone calls, emails, and text messages. We'd like to share with you that the manner in which you receive communication from the school is completely determined by you. To change how you receive communication from the school, please click the following link - https://lakeportusd.asp.aeries.net/ - and follow these outlined steps:
1) Log into the Parent/Student Portal using your email address. If you don't remember your password, click "Forgot Password," then check your email and enter the code you're given. Only YOU can reset your password. The LUSD schools cannot.
2) Choose the Communications tab, the second tab at the top-left of the page.
3) When you are brought to the next page, choose the round icon at the top left - it will display the initials of your first and last name; for example, Todd Smith would read TS.
4) When you click on this circle, you will be taken to yet another page. On this page, choose Notifications.
5) You've finally arrived at the place to make changes to how you receive communication from the school!
- If you ONLY want to receive texts, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for the SMS option.
- If you want only emails, uncheck all boxes EXCEPT for the email option.
- If you don't want any robo calls, uncheck the call options.
As always, please feel welcome to call the school for assistance. Our office hours are 7:30 am to 4:15 pm and we are happy to be of assistance.

Attendance and Absenteeism
Every absence - excused or unexcused - is a lost learning opportunity that can have a significant impact on a student's success in school...and in life. A student who misses 10 percent or more of their school days - 18 or more days in a school year - is considered chronically absent. Chronically absent students are more likely to fall behind in reading and math, and are less likely to graduate from high school.
While we strongly believe that students should be in attendance every day that school is in session, our school nurses recommend that students are not sent to school under the following circumstances: active vomiting/diarrhea; running a fever; active head lice; and the presence of a contagious disease. PLEASE ALSO REMEMBER THE IMPORTANCE OF BASIC HAND-WASHING.
Finally, please understand that teachers are amenable to homework requests, but only after a student has been absent for three days. Compiling necessary materials, and making copies of assignments is extremely time consuming and, unfortunately, these requested materials are often times never retrieved from the office.
First Round of MAP Testing
All of this said, TMS students will participate in their first round of MAP Testing the week of November 27- December 1. Students will test with their Homeroom/Advisory teachers and, for students in grades 7/8, a modified schedule will be implemented. We can't wait to see - and share with you - how much growth our students will have made from the Spring to the Fall!
Daylight Saving Ends on 11-5-17

Funds for Fire Victims
Beginning Wednesday, November 1st through Friday, November 17th, students and staff will compete against one another by placing coins in jars located in the office and all classrooms. The team that collects the most money wins, and all proceeds from both teams will be donated to the Lakeport Rotary Club whose membership will use the funds to benefit local fire victims.
Who will win? Staff or students? Let the challenge commence.
