Eagles ARISE
Positive Behavior Intervention Systems or "PBIS" is a school-wide system for teaching, modeling, and reinforcing appropriate student behavior. The goal of PBIS is to provide our students a safe, positive learning environment and to ensure consistency in behavior rewards and corrections in all areas of our school.
Beginning at orientation your student is taught GWHS’ behavior expectations by the principal, counseling department and staff. Every adult in the building reinforces positive behavior by students and reteaches students when they need a reminder of what to do.
GWHS’ mascot is Eddie the Eagle and Eagles ARISE is our motto. “ARISE” is an acronym for our behavior standards: Accountable, Responsible, Involved, Safe, and Excelling. When your student demonstrates an ARISE standard, they earn ARISE points or tickets that can be redeemed for quarterly class parties and at other school events throughout the year.
In addition to teaching and reinforcing positive behavior through PBIS, we have a school-wide system of consequences for reteaching expectations and correcting negative behavior. We encourage your student to make good behavior choices and come to school each day. We appreciate your encouragement at home to do the same.
