Miss C's October Message
Hi again! We made it through September and half way through October! YAY! This has been such a fun school to work at, things are constantly transforming, everyone is so kind and I have loved getting to meet our families. I have shared below various resources and updates that pertain to counseling; I hope they are helpful!
For the current month, my hours for Monte Vista are:
Monday/Wednesday 8am-4pm
Fridays - as needed

Scholarships are starting!
What is Financial Aid?
Financial aid is an umbrella term for student loans, grants, and scholarships.
Upcoming information dates available to the community:
- Financial Aid Info Night @ Royal High School: 11/14/16 6:30 pm in RHS Library, a financial aid expert will teach you about the different financial aid opportunities and about the FAFSA.
Every family of a senior should fill our the FAFSA regardless of earnings or where your child will attend. There are changes this year, learn about them at this event!
Scholarships to look at:
- Elks Most Valuable Student - graduating senior, US Citizen, judged on scholarship, leadership and financial need. Apply online: enf.elks.org/mvs ($1,000/year - $12,500/year possible) DUE: 11/30/16
- GE Reagan Foundation Scholarship - graduating seniors, US Citizen, demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship. Minimum 3.0 GPA un-weighted. Plan to enroll in a 4 year university/college. Apply online: reaganfoundation.org/scholarships (up to $10,000) DUE: 1/5/17

Elementary Discovery Day
I am especially excited to say that I will be using about 30-45 minutes of this day (every other week) to work on elementary social skills. We will be covering topics such as: how to be a good friend, coping skills, different types of "brain smarts" and much more!
