A Weekly Newsletter for Warrior Families and Students
January 10, 2020
Greetings Warrior Families and Friends,
It was another action packed and exciting week here at MHS and we hope it was a great one for your student. We are a little over a week away from the final exams for our 1st semester. Please help us in encouraging your student(s) to make the most of this remaining time. Check Infinite Campus for any missing work. Connect with teachers to get suggestions and support for the best preparation for the upcoming final exams. Use this time to make sure it is the best finish it can possibly be, finish like a Warrior!
Remember, if you are the parent/guardian of a current 8th grade student, or if you know one, make sure to get to MHS on Wednesday evening for our 8th-grade Orientation event. This event provides some important insights to help with the transition to high school. Additionally, make sure to mark your calendar for January 29th Course Information event. At this event you will be able to connect with our teaching staff to hear about the awesome opportunities that our course selection process provides. If you have any questions about these events please reach out.
Let’s get ready for some snow and GO WARRIORS!

ACT Preparation Opportunities
The state required ACT test for all current Juniors is coming up in early March. Strong performance on this test can help our students access college admission, tech school admission, entrance into skilled trades apprenticeship programs, and can help with scholarships. Our Warriors typically do well on this test, but an increase of a point or two on the score can often lead to significant changes in opportunities for admission and scholarships. The following resources have proven to help our students who engage in them. Please consider joining one of the following opportunities. It may provide the little extra help needed to open the door for the dream opportunity for your student.
Muskego High School After School ACT Prep Sessions (Free)
The MHS staff has engaged in countless hours of research on the ACT and has the strategies and study tips to help your student perform better. There are hour long sessions focused on specific portions of the test. For more information click this link - ACT After-School Session 2019-20.

ACP Day Review
This past Wednesday, students participated in the 4th Academic and Career Planning (ACP) day at the high school. During this lesson, 9th through 11th-grade students prepared for registration and started to plan their course selection. Students were shown the resources available to help them make careful and educated decisions about the courses they choose. We also provided these templates to note which courses students want to register for: 9th Grade Notes, 10th Grade Notes, 11th Grade Notes. All students were encouraged to talk with their teachers about course options, attend course information night, and use our 2020-21 Academic Guidebook and Career Clusters document as resources in course selection. The Career Clusters document helps students plan their academic program and choose courses based on career clusters they've been matched with through the Career Matchmaker assessment they completed. Students will register for their courses during the February 5th ACP day, and are welcome to register before that date if this is something your family chooses to do. The February 5th deadline still applies to students who may miss the February 5th ACP day. The ACP lesson completed today (January 8th) can be found here!
Behavior in America class Food Drive
Hello MHS Students and Families!
From January 27th - 31st, Ms. Glaser’s Behavior in America class will be running a food drive as a way to honor the work and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. All donations will go to Feeding America. Please donate non-perishable food items (no glass please!) in your 2nd hour class during this week. The class with the most donations will win a prize!
Another way to help support the food drive is by donating at the Winterizer on January 31st! The event will be held at the high school from 5 pm until 10 pm. Donations can be brought to any of the various sporting events -- Diving, Wrestling, Girl’s Basketball, or Boy’s Basketball. The teams will be having a competition amongst themselves to see which team can raise the most amount of food. You can choose which team you want your donation to count towards.
Please help us reach our goal of donating 750 pounds of food. Thank you for giving back to your community!
Sincerely,
The Behavior in America Students
