In The Middle
A newsletter to and for the parents of CLMS - 3/1/19
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
On the radio today I heard it was the meteorologic first day of spring. As my Uncle Estle would say, "Oh." It was always that minimalist expression that said so much. What is my point? I don't have one, I am just sick of winter.
My only positive about the snow is that the kids today will have great stories to tell. I think of all the times I have looked at the wrinkled and faded photos in the "box" that show the huge piles of snow from the 70's. They are wonderful memories to have, that were not all the fun to make.
We are all in this together.

Mr. Collins and Mrs. Hinsch took a group of our kids to the St. Croix Summit this past week. These two are the queen and king of the scroungers. They came to me and said, "can we go?" I said , "No, too expensive." Next thing you know they have a grant and off we go. Great opportunity for our kids, and great example of how to shake all the trees to make things happen. Nice job!
If your business or workplace have events that would be of interest to our schools let us know. Free is my favorite price.

What is influenza (flu)?
The flu is a respiratory disease caused by a virus that attacks the nose, throat, and lungs. Illness is usually mild or moderate, not requiring hospitalization. However, at times flu can be severe, even leading to death. It is not the same as the “stomach flu.”
What are the symptoms?
Flu symptoms include fever, dry cough, sore throat, headache, extreme tiredness, and body aches. These symptoms usually begin suddenly and might be severe enough to stop your daily activities.
How can I be a Flu Fighter?
- Get vaccinated.
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze, or cough or sneeze into your sleeve.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, or an alcohol-based, water less hand sanitizer.
- Protect infants by not exposing them to large crowds or sick family members when flu is in your community.
- Do not share drinking cups and straws.
- Clean commonly touched surfaces often (door knobs, refrigerator handles, phones, and water faucets).
