Tools for the Classroom
Mobl21 is a learning application that enables educators the ability to create content and share it with students on a variety of devices that can be accessed anywhere and anytime. This makes it easy for students to go through notes and study between classes or on the go! Mobl21 also enables educators to track and monitor content access and view test performances easily and efficiently. In a K-12 classroom this tool would be most useful in a 7-12 setting where students are more motivated to learn on their own time. A science 20 teacher could create a an online quiz that will allow students to go in and practice questions for an upcoming exam!
LearnCast is a tool to deliver high quality content to learners while allowing for the creator to gather information. In LearnCast you can test and track students’ progress with instant results, find and share information with peers and experts, search a library of video, audio, documents and images, rate and comment, then view and answer instantly, survey learners and see the results in real time, and provide pre and post training to follow up with learners. In a K-12 setting this tool could be used in a classroom in order to create those meaningful lessons that students can work towards.
PhoneGap is a tool where you can easily create your own app! This tool will be great in a younger school setting when a teacher can create an app to specifically cater to their classroom or in an older classroom where students can create their own apps for projects or assignments!
Clickatell allows you to easily send text messages to someone and have them respond easily while keeping track of appointments, dues dates, assignments, etc. This device would be super useful in a classroom to enable students the ability to stay informed. For example, in a grade 7 classroom I could send a text to all students with an announcement of the upcoming homework project due date and they could all respond by texting a confirmation!
