Judson H.S. Library

Open for the 2014 - 2015 School Year!

Welcome or Welcome Back!

If you are returning to Judson High School, Welcome Back! If you are new to JHS, a huge Rocket Welcome to you! I am Elizabeth Everett, your Library Media Specialist and I am here to assist you and your students with all things informational, many things technological, and everything reading related! If I have not met you, please stop by the library to say hello!

Remotes! You know you want yours already...

Many of the JHS classrooms are equipped with mounted Hitachi LCD projectors and Elmo document cameras. There are remote controls for each. I believe that most people just use the LCD remote so you might not want to be responsible for both. It is up to you. If you are ready for your remotes, please click on the link below and send me the answers to this 1 minute survey! I will "fill the orders" as they come in, and send you an email when your remote is ready for pick up!

Back to School Tools and Apps!

If you already know me, you know that I am a bit of a techno geek...which can be a good thing! My technology goal is always that the tool be easy to learn and use AND that is saves you some time and energy! So, for Back to School purposes, here are three tools that you may want to take a look at if you are not already familiar with them....

  • S'more.com - a great tool for creating flyers, newsletters, advertisements, information sheets, etc. Free and easy to use! Your information is stored electronically and easy to access/edit for the next semester or project.
  • Google surveys - Every teacher and secondary student in JISD has a Google account. If your create a "form" in your Google Drive, you can use it for all types of surveys and quizzes...you can even have Google grade M/C, T/F quizzes for you! The answers to your survey or quiz come to you in a spreadsheet that you can organize and manipulate!
  • Remind 101 - Another free, easy tool, that allows you to set up email messages and reminders that go out to the students in specific classes. Students and parents can "opt-in" to the free text reminders and you know that teens cannot stop themselves from looking when their phone buzzes! All you have to do is set up your classes in advance and send the "opt-in" code to your students and parents. Then you can set up weekly reminders or send random text messages to the entire class.

If you have any questions or need help accessing these tools, come by the library at your convenience! I have many more tools at the wiki on the library website!

JHS Magazines!

Over the past year, we have 35+ magazine subscriptions in the library. The magazines are not for checkout, they are only available to read in the library. We will be renewing subscriptions and adding new magazines at the end of August. If you would like to "put in your two cents worth" on what magazines we receive, please answer this quick survey!
