Week Of April 8th

Highlights from last week....

What a great week in Kindergarten!!

In ELA, we learned about our country. We learned the letters y and z and the sight words this and what.


In Math, we worked on adding and subtracting numbers within 10 using multiple strategies. The children ROCKED it!!

A peek at our learning this week....

This week our class will be reading stories about the sky during daytime and nighttime. Children will identify the sun during the day and the moon at night.

Here are some activities that you can do with your child to help reinforce the skills we will be practicing.

Word Workout

  • Vocabulary: distance, recognize Take your child outside during the day and at night. Help your child identify the sun, moon, clouds, stars, sunrise, and sunset.
  • My Words to Know

High-Frequency Words: for, have, they, of, said, want, here, me, this, what Have your child think of a sentence using one of the words. Write the sentence, then read the sentence together.

Category Words: opposites Use gestures to act out words that are opposites, such as up/down, pull/push, open/close, and in/out.

Phonics: u, g, w, x, v, j, qu, z Search for objects with these letters. Play “I Spy,” and have your child guess the names of objects. For example, I spy something we use outside when it rains. It begins with u. (umbrella)



In Math, we will be finishing our Unit 4 module and taking our assessment.

A Note from Ms. Berube

We have had a fantastic week! We were busy assessing and I am so proud to see the amazing growth the students have made! They truly blow me away.


We have a lot to do this week before April vacation. We will also be starting to make our own class book to be published. I can't wait to see how they come out. It will be about what they want to be when they grow up.


Thank you so much to Mason and his family for the cloroz wipes! Also, thank you do Dahlia and her family for more snacks for our classroom snack bin. We are all so appreciative!

A Note from Mrs. Maillet

We had an AWESOME week! These kids are not only reading machines, but also mathematicians! Thank you for all that you do!


I will home the April book order on Monday, it will be due on April 26th. Thank you for your support.


Also, we are down to our last container of Clorox wipes. If any of you would like to donate some, we would REALLY appreciate it. THANK YOU!!!

A Note from Mrs. Webb

The students did an amazing job on their reading assessment this week! So much growth has been seen by all students in such a short amount of time! I am so proud of all of them!


This week will be a review week in our reading and math. We will be assessing these two areas before we go on our spring break.


We will begin working on a class book that will be sent out for publishing! This book will be about what we want to be when we grow up! These books are adorable! You will have a chance to order one. Those order forms will be sent home after April vacation.


I will send home Scholastic Book order forms for May when we return from break.


I hope you all have a great week off and a very Happy Easter! I look forward to seeing the kids and returning to our routine on April 22!

A Note From Mrs. Marcoux

The children did a fantastic job with our assessments this week. It is so awesome seeing the progress they have made since December.


The children are excited about their parts in the June nursery rhyme play. More information will be coming home about it after vacation.


Thank you to those who volunteered to chaperone our field trip! I had to go with the first two parents to contact me. We are only allowed 2 parent volunteers. More information with be coming home after vacation in regards to the field trip as well.


I have placed the book orders with Scholastic and expect the delivery later this week.

Thank you fro sharing your AMAZING children with me this year! They are making great progress in our room.


We will have our module 4 assessment this week. We will come back after vacation and start our new module. We will begin working with the teen numbers and continue to work on number talks.


We will also be working on our own class book this week. We are going to publish our own class book. These books are are a great treasure to have. Our title is going to be" Our Sight Word Book". You will be able to purchase the book.I will send home that information after vacation.


Our classroom supplies of tissues and clorox wipes are almost gone.
