Everything in the Middle School that matters
Greetings Middle School Families
We have a busy schedule next week as well. Along with homecoming, we have a few other events going on. Please check out the items below.
Have a great weekend.

Social Emotional Screener
Monticello School District is implementing a framework of intervention delivery called Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) during the 2021-2022 school year. This data-driven framework will allow our building to effectively create interventions to proactively guide students to mastery and beyond at their individual levels. The MTSS umbrella encompasses the academic, behavioral, and emotional needs of every child. After seeing immense social/emotional needs over the past 19 months, we want to check in on our MMS students. During the third week of September, M&M teachers will administer a Universal Social-Emotional Screener. The screener questions can be viewed HERE.
Results from this questionnaire will be completely confidential to the public and will only be reviewed if a student’s score shows a concern in a specific area. If that happens, the data will be given a thorough examination by licensed staff in the Student Center, and specific interventions will be created and scheduled. Guardians/adults may be contacted if the staff member feels it necessary. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Sarah Sopher, MMS licensed Social Worker at 763-272-2106.
Homecoming
All Middle School Students need to be accompanied by a parent.
Extra 2020-2021 Yearbooks for Sale!
How to purchase the 20-21 Yearbook:
- Parent portal: fees tab > Optional Payments. The yearbook will be given to your child's M&M teacher for distribution.
- Main Office: Credit, Check, or Cash.
ATTENDANCE LINE - 763-272-2110
Please use “763-272-2110” to call in late or absent students. Please call the attendance line or send a note if your student needs to leave early.
Prior notice expedites the process, avoids interruptions into classrooms to have students dismissed, and eliminates difficulty reaching students during Phy-ed, music, lunch, and special events. You may also use the attendance line to request homework if students are gone two or more consecutive days.
Thank you!
Item Drop-off
Please know that when you drop an item off for your child in the front office, we will not interrupt class. Instead, we will have your child paged in between class to pick up their item.
Picture Retake Day
- Thursday, October 7th
- All students should have their pictures taken to get a student ID.
- Don't wear GREEN. Josten's "Green Screen" technology allows you to personalize backgrounds, but it makes green clothing disappear into the background.

Parent Involvement Volunteers Needed
The Parent Involvement Committee is looking for a chairperson and treasurer. Meetings are once a month and last no more than an hour. If you are at all interested in joining, please come and check things out! These meetings are a great time to be able to get to know what is happening in the school as our principal and a school board member regularly attend.
If you have any questions, contact Jessica Bechtold at jessicambechtold@gmail.com.
