First paralyzed human treated with stem cells has regained upper body movement
Imagine losing control of your car and waking up in the hospital paralyzed from the neck down. This is the story of Kristopher Boesen, who experienced a life-changing moment where his car spiraled out of control on a slippy road surface, slamming into a tree and lamp post. Doctors warned Kris’s parents that he might never be able to function from the neck down again.
Kris was offered the opportunity to go through a potentially life-changing procedure involving stem cells, which ‘have the capability to repair injured nervous tissue through replacement of damaged cells‘ (1). The experimental procedure did not guarantee any restoration to Kris’s paralysis, but to him, the risk was worth taking,

Warren County Jail Officers, Ohio, raped her and refused to give her medicine for epilepsy
A Cincinnati woman claims at least two corrections officers in the Warren County Jail raped her and nurses refused to give her prescribed medicine for her epilepsy, leading to seizures that left her debilitated in jail for 11 days.
Saying she was "tortured," the 38-year-old woman claims the jailers shattered bones in her shoulder during the rapes, used a stun gun on her more than once, took away her clothing, left her covered in her own blood and feces, shut off water to her cell and forced her to drink from a toilet.
"She was so desperate for help she attempted to write on the cell wall, in her own blood, 'God, please help me,'” according to a federal lawsuit filed Friday in Cincinnati.

'Guardian Angel' dog brightens classroom while watching over Utah boy with a rare form of epilepsy
The “guardian angel” of Room No. 172 at Utah’s Sunset Junior High has been known to lick a face or two and sprawl on the floor to yawn in the middle of class.
But Dopey, a 4-year-old golden retriever, is never more than an arm’s length away from Britton Voss, a special needs 12-year-old who has been protected by the service dog around the clock since 2013.
Hours before Britton — who was born with a rare form of epilepsy and is developmentally delayed — has a seizure, Dopey offers an “alert,” panting and nudging the teacher or one of Britton’s parents to let them know that the boy will soon start seizing. But that’s not all.

I lived with depression; "I Am Natalie & This Is My Life" Documentary
I'm telling much about my life that many don't know about. From my childhood years up to my present, I've dealt with a lot people couldn't even imagine. One of the tough subjects that I do talk about is me dealing with depression. Many do not know that depression was a battle for me after I caused a tragic accident having a seizure while driving.
After the car accident and knowing it was a tragedy, I became so sad. Having to deal with media, people talking instead of helping, and my lost of faith was the worst feeling ever. My family was already going through enough, and I did this. It seemed like my phone was ringing for some to just see what's going on instead of consoling or praying for me. All I could think about though was how I disappointed a family that lost a wife, a mother, a grandmother. I just couldn't take it anymore. All I did was cry, especially when I was alone.
Months after the accident, I attempted suicide. I just couldn't take the challenges I was facing. I overdosed on any medications I could find around my home and I called my sister. I advised her what I've done and told her to take care of my boys. All I remember was falling on my kitchen floor. And I woke up in a hospital with my father in my face. He advised me that I survived the car accident and now I've survived this attempt to take my life. He then asked, "What are you going to do now?" He told me that GOD has me here for a reason. Then he walked away. I cried so hard....
I now mentor to many about depression and how we must not give up! Depression is an illness or a life challenge that so many people are dealing with.
If you know someone dealing with depression, please contact your local doctor or centers in your area. Also, you can contact Angels Of Epilepsy and we will provide resources.
