Principal's Message
As I reflect on this week, I think about the word humanity. So often when running our busy lives, we get caught up in the day-to-day events and we don't always remember to slow down and really see people and their story.
I began my Monday with a conversation in which an adult shared a bit of their story. In this case, they are navigating a serious medical situation. It was a story in which this person makes a daily choice to seek the best in the day, despite uncertainty and difficulty. What may otherwise be an obstacle is seen as an opportunity. Some days will be harder than others, but their choice to find joy in the day inspires me. This belief that adversity, no matter how challenging, fosters growth is one I hope all our students gather along their journey at PTMS.
This week our school recognized Suicide Prevention Week. It's a heavy and sometimes difficult topic. Each child listened to our counseling team on Monday during their PE class about the topic, signs to recognize, and steps to take if they find themselves or a friend in that situation. There were other activities throughout the week including 4 therapy dogs that visited campus on Wednesday, and a wellness seminar during lunch on Thursday. I celebrate our counselors Mrs. Curry & Mrs. Murt, along with Ms. Eels-Taylor for their planning and facilitation of the topic, and the care they show our students each and every day. PTMS is so lucky to have them on staff. Remember that we are here to support your students and you. Should you need resources around mental health, please reach out to our team or another professional. Social-emotional health and wellness is so important, and we work hard at PTMS to ensure that students and families have resources to navigate challenging situations.
This morning, Friday, I concluded my week with our first "Principal's Coffee" held in our Learning Commons. It was an opportunity for me to gather with parents, hear how their student is experiencing PTMS thus far, and to talk about questions people may have. Most importantly, it gave us time to see the humanity in each other, gather as a community, and focus on how we can support our students to be their best versions of themselves. I want to thank the many parents who attended, and for our PTSA for their support. We will have more throughout the year, and if your schedule allows, I extend an invitation for you to join us.
To our families who will be celebrating Rosh Hashanah, we wish you "Shanah Tovah."
Finally, thank you so much for our collective fundraising efforts. I am so impressed by the kindness and care of our families. Have a wonderful weekend, and we will see your students on Monday.
In gratitude,
Scott Wild
PrincipalCounseling Update
We met with all students for our Suicide Prevention Presentation on Monday. We are proud of the serioius and thoughtful manner in which the students reacted to the presentations and participated in our activities this week to support suicide prevention.
We are excited to offer several student support group opportunities coming soon. At the end of our presentation on Monday, all of our wolves filled out a survey to indicate if they were interested in any of our group opportunities. If you would like your student to participate in any of the support opportunities, please complete the survey here.
As we end the 6th week of school, we recommend to review your student’s academic progress with them. D/F notifications for the first quarter can now be viewed in Aeries under the “grades” tab. As a reminder, we have academic supports at PTMS for all students. If your student is struggling in a certain subject, please encourage your student to get help from their teacher during homeroom. Homeroom is a time where students can prearrange meetings with their teachers in order to get any questions that they have answered. PTMS also hosts Academic Power Hour (APH) from 2:50-3:50pm in the Learning Commons every Monday-Thursday. Students are welcome to drop-in and work on homework as well as get help from a PTMS teacher and high school student tutors. Students are required to sign in when they arrive and a snack will be provided.

Yesterday and today, our Wolfpack enjoyed the first Fundraiser reward... DONUT DAYS, which was earned by reaching the first goal marker of $25,000. Below are some pictures of the hard work our parent volunteers put in to getting them ready and the kids enjoying them during Homeroom.
