Need to know
Gryphon Lounge Thank you: Thank you to all the parents who supported the Gryphon Lounge Monday morning. It was much appreciated by the staff!!!
Holiday Assembly: Please enjoy the K to 6 Holiday Assembly. Thank you the boys for their wonderful performances and being a good audience. Thank you to all parents who dropped by. Thanks to Mr. Kennedy for pulling it all together!!
Band Awards: Each term certificates are given to students in grades 1 to 6 who have demonstrated, day in and day out, behaviours which we believe are essential for a positive learning environment. Please join us in celebrating the recipients for June.
Community Engagement ~ Student Initiatives:
Stuffy Drive for MCH: This week, our community service squad introduced a new fundraiser for students in Elementary school. From December 5 to 16, we will be collecting stuffed animals for The Children’s Hospital. By donating stuffed animals, you are giving these children the opportunity for play, providing them with emotional support and helping keep the hospital’s play room supplied. The only guidelines for this collection is that all stuffed toys are new and safe and can only be filled with white stuffing. Collection boxes were placed all around elementary school. Help us put a smile on these kids' faces just in time for the holidays.
5, 10, 15, 20$!!!
Countdown to the holiday: Let’s have a little fun before the break. We invite the boys to replace, add or wear the following fun, favorite, festive or freaky items on the following days.
Monday, December 19 ~ Sock Day
Tuesday, December 20 ~ Sweater Day
Wednesday, December 21 ~ Pyjama Day
ASP News (After School Program): ASP clubs will end next Wednesday, December 14th with the exception of Homework Club and Kindergarten Club, which will continue until the last day of school before break. Keep an eye out for news concerning next semester's clubs, which will be available to register for the new year! Please email aspadmin@selwyn.ca for any additional questions or information.
Lost and Found!: The lost and found items from all around the school are now displayed in the hallway near the front entrance of the Lucas Building ready to be picked up. Photos of some of the items can be found here. Be sure to check if anything belongs to your family so you or your son can pick them up as soon as possible. Any items remaining on Dec 21, 2022 will be donated.
Argyle Shop News: The Argyle Shop will be closed for the winter break starting Monday, December 19 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Shoppers can book an appointment here to visit the store in December or in January. Online orders can be placed from our Argyle Shop webpage at any time.
Winter Gryphon Sale ~ Save the NEW Date: The next Gryphon Sale (gently used uniform items) will take place on Wednesday, January 18 from 7:00 to 11:00 am in the Rossy Agora. Donations are very much needed, so please drop off any gently used uniform donations in the bins just inside the front doors of the school.
Pre-University (Grade 12) Information Evening Update
Students and parents filled Coristine Hall to learn more about Selwyn House School’s new Pre-University (Grade 12) class at the Dec. 5 Information Evening. Various speakers described this direct one-year path to university as a favourable option for current and new students. Old Boys Tim Fleiszer ’92 and Nicholas Johnson ’15 endorsed the concept as an exciting extension of the Selwyn House experience and described how Selwyn House was integral to their academic and professional success.
The January 15 deadline to apply is quickly approaching and places are limited. For those who are applying, please be sure to take time in this busy holiday season to complete the application and bursary application (if applicable).
