Message from Your Proud Principal

Happy New Year! I hope each of you had a restful holiday with your family and many wonderful memories were made. For me, I had both kiddos at home and it was the simple things that filled my heart like sitting on the couch snuggled in a blanket watching a movie with my daughter or planning and preparing a meal with my son who loves to cook (he did not get that from me!). It was moments like these that made this momma happy. I hope you made many moments to treasure for a lifetime.

On Thursday, January 7, we welcomed back 762 students (382 In Person and 380 Digitally) to begin the new year. There is a lot of uncertainty in our world right now, but the one constant is our commitment to providing each and every one of our students a safe and stellar learning environment. Our kiddos are our most precious asset and our Parsons' community will continue to stand together to ensure our students thrive in the year 2021 and beyond!

Proud to be your principal,

Mrs. Laura Clark

Report Card Information

Printed Report Cards will be mailed to the address listed in ParentVUE (Parent Portal) and StudentVUE the week of Tuesday, January 19th. Report Cards will also be attached to the Student Documents as a PDF and available in ParentVUE and StudentVUE by Sunday, January 17th.

Asynchronous Monday

We are so excited for our teachers! They will be receiving new teacher computers on Monday, January 11th. As a result, we will be having an Asynchronous Day on Monday. In-Person and Digital students will be viewing prerecorded lessons instead of attending live Zoom lessons that day. In-Person students will still be at school in the classroom with their students and our teachers will still be available for questions throughout the day for our Digital Students. This will give our teachers the chance to get their new computers up and running and to ensure that learning will continue with fewer interruptions on Monday.

CogAT and IOWA Score Update

The CogAT and IOWA score reports will be sent home with in person students today. If your digital student took one or both of these assessments, your child's score report will be available for pick up from our front office during regular school hours.

Keeping our Car Riders Safe

Please help us keep our car riders and staff safe during drop off and pick up in our car rider lane. Here are a few safety guidelines:

1. Car rider traffic may not enter the bus lanes or the lot in front of the school. Everyone must come in the car rider entrance and follow the traffic flow to the end of the process. You may not cut into the car rider line by coming through the front parking lot.

2. The car rider line is a "No Passing Zone". Even if the car in front of you is taking a long time, please be patient and do not pass the car in front of you or honk at them.

3. Make sure you pull up as far as you can to the furthest staff member at the end of the sidewalk. Do not stop and drop off your student before you are at the furthest part of the line.

4. No parents should exit their cars at any time. We will help the students that need help getting out of the car. The students should always exit the door closest to the sidewalk for their safety.

5. Drop off is between 8:20-8:50. If you get here after 8:50 am, you will need to go to the front of the school, park and walk your student in to check in late. Parking in the bus lanes in front of the school is against the law. We must keep these lanes free and clear for emergency personnel in case of an emergency.

Thank you for your support as we work to keep our students safe.

Kids Heart Challenge

The American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge is coming soon! Mark your calendar for January 25 - February 5. This year we will be accepting donations online only. Please see the flyer below for how your child can help our school and the American Heart Association.

Attention Digital and In Person Students ~ Picture Make Up Day, Wednesday, January 13th from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm

If you are a new in person student, a new student to Parsons, or you were unable to come to picture day in November, this make up day is for you! This is the final opportunity to get your picture taken so it will be in the school yearbook.

We will have our photographers in the gym from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. We are practicing all COVID CDC guidelines for health and safety of our staff and students. Masks are required. The students will take off their mask only when they are getting their picture taken. Students will be socially distanced when waiting for their turn.

Digital students: Your parents can either park in the front of the school or in the car rider parking lot. You will need to be walked to the gym where we will have a staff member greet you. Digital students will have a dedicated camera. Time slots are on a first come/first serve basis. Your family members will be asked to wait outside the gym. Students will wait until the camera spot is cleared to go in. Hand sanitizer stations are also located by the gym for use upon entering and exiting the building.

Please email Michelle Miller with any picture day questions or concerns - michelle.miller@gcpsk12.org.

Doing our part to stop the spread of Covid-19

Please use the COVID-19 Morning Checklist to help reduce the spread of Covid-19. Please continue to follow the guidelines each morning when sending your in person student to school. We have seen a slight increase of cases in Gwinnett and we want to make sure we are ALL doing our part.

Each school in our district has a trained Health Response Team (HRT). If a suspected case of Covid-19 is reported at our school, the team follows set guidelines and procedures. Please be assured that you will be contacted by an HRT member if your child has been identified as 'close contact' to someone in our school who has tested positive for COVID-19.

The most important thing we can do is continue to wear our masks, practice social distancing, and wash hands regularly. We are #STRONGERTOGETHER when we all do our part.
