Wondering what exactly is EPOC and Why you should become apart of this amazing network in NYC?
The Environmental Professionals of Color is an initiative of the Center for Diversity & the Environment (CDE), a non-profit organization founded by Marcelo Bonta. CDE's mission is to racially and ethnically diversify the U.S. environmental movement by Developing Leaders, Diversifying Institutions & Building Communities.
The national network is a growing community of leaders of color across the USA at work on a vast array of critical environmental issues, from habitat conservation to environmental justice to public health and energy efficiency. EPOC chapters are currently active in Atlanta, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, and Washington, D.C., with chapters under development in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Boston, and in multiple cities in North Carolina.
EPOC-NYC will strive to support the development and growth of its members by fostering opportunities for mentorship, sponsorship, leadership development, community outreach, education and collaboration. We want to highlight the work and achievements of Environmental Professionals of Color in the NYC region and build stronger relationships, professional networks and increase engagement in social and environmental justice issues.
