The main reason for the start of the Civil War was because of the differences between The North and The South, The south wanted slaves so that they didn't have to do all their work themselves. The north didn't want slavery because they believed that was wrong, and President Abraham Lincoln agreed with the north, which made the south angry.

Main reason for The Civil War (Northerners)
The main reason for The Civil War was a big argument between the North and the South. The Northerners at first agreed with slavery, they used the slaves to help farmers grow tobacco, but later tobacco slowly became less used and less profitable. Then the Northerners decided they didn't need slaves anymore so they stopped using slavery and made the North a slave free zone.
Main reasons for The Civil War (Southerners)
The main reason the Southerners wanted to keep slavery was because they wanted other people to work for them and not have to pay them. Once more work was being discovered, like picking cotton, or taking care of farms. The Southerners used slaves to do the work for them because they didn't want to pay anyone to do it so they forced the slaves to do there work. Since the Northerners and Abraham Lincoln tried to stop slavery, the southerners hated them.
