CB West Students Come Together For A Cause
The National Honor Society would like to thank all CB West students and staff who participated in our Pennies for Patients fundraiser this April. For two weeks, NHS students organized and encouraged collections of spare change in all advisories and lunches. We also sponsored a ‘Pay to Stop’ feature, where the song Wannabe by the Spice Girls played every day between blocks until we reached our fundraising goal. We’d like to give a big shout-out to Mr. McDermott whose ‘teacher dare’ of dressing like a baby garnered the most donations in our collection box. Watch out for that spectacle sometime soon.
At the end of the fundraiser, CB West donated almost $1500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s campaign to aid people fighting blood cancers. Thanks again for a great collective effort. As we all know, West is best!
A Message From Mr. Delson (CB West's Band Director)
It is with great excitement and pride that I share with you the first edition of #SeaboardStories. The short documentary chronicles the journey of our students and our community with the Seaboard, from the inception of an idea through the concert in January.
Thank you to all who in any way helped to make this event a reality. Thank you to the students and alumni who performed on and with the instrument, thank you to our tireless Seaboard Committee members, thank you to our student volunteers, thank you to our incredibly supportive administration, thank you to those who bought sushi, thank you to those who attended the concert or just stopped by to check out the instrument, and thank you to the teachers who helped push their students to such high levels of excellence.
We are fortunate to be a part of a district that so highly values the expression of creative art and to be in the company of such talented and driven students and families. Without all of you, this event simply would not have been possible.
Although ROLI has not yet done their social media push of the piece yet, this video is now public and featured on the front page (second scrolling tab) of www.roli.com. The title of the article (written by Seaboard creator, Roland Lamb) is A community sets the stage for students to shine, and I think his words really do capture the atmosphere of not only the day of the concert, but of the whole project.
Please take a few moments to check out the video and the article via the link below, and please feel free to share with your families and friends online.
