Whiteley Wildcat Update
August 9, 2019
Welcome Back
We hope you are as excited as the staff at Whiteley is for the start of the school year! The staff is ready for our students to walk through our doors next week. Although it is sad to say good-bye to our summer it is always great to welcome our students back. This year we have a school theme. Our school theme will be Everybody In! We look forward to working together as a staff and a learning community. As we begin a new school year we wanted to share some important information with you to ensure a great start to the school year.
New Parent Information Session
We want to welcome all of our new parents to Whiteley to join us for a Parent Information session on August 21st. This will occur prior to our Curriculum Night at 6:00. The school administration, specials teachers, and our PBIS team will share some information to help parents learn more about our school.
Snacks
If your child’s classroom teacher schedules a “healthy snack” time on a daily basis, we encourage parents to provide a healthy snack for their child. We are asking that parents send in snacks that are nut free, due to the several health restrictions through the school environment. Please also consider the portion size that is sent in for your child to consume during the designated snack time.
Student Birthdays
We want to recognize birthdays on a consistent basis throughout the school year without students bringing in non-edible items for the class. Of concern, is that this would place pressure on children and parents to purchase items which is not necessary. As a staff, we want to acknowledge the birthday in the classroom without any items being sent from home. Students will have his/her name announced on the morning announcements. The classroom teacher will recognize the child’s birthday in a special way.
If you are interested, you can celebrate your child’s birthday by being a part of the Frank C. Whiteley Birthday Book Club and donating a book to the Frank C. Whiteley Resource Center. Your child’s name will be on a permanent label inside the book. Your child will be the first to check out the book and share it with his/her classroom. Ms. Julie Crull, FCW Resource Center Teacher, will send home the Birthday Book Club form a week before your child’s birthday. The Birthday Book Club is made possible through the efforts of the Frank C. Whiteley PTA and the School. If you have any questions about the Birthday Book Club you can contact Ms. Julie Crull at (847)963-7207.
