LEVELING UP IN 2020
Howdy Hounds!
It was great to welcome our Hounds back to school! We are so proud of how hard they are working, both on-campus and through virtual instruction...it is hard to believe we are entering our last two school weeks of 2020!
Our Charleston Wrap Fundraiser helped us raise $8,751.65!!! We are SO excited to purchase additional walkie-talkies, instructional resources for small group instruction, and PBIS Reward incentives! Thank you for supporting our campus!
Monday, December 7th - Friday, December 18th, elementary parents will be able to access Family Access in Skyward to submit the Instructional Change Form for the 3rd nine weeks. If you would like to make a change from virtual to on-campus instruction, or vise versa...please be sure to submit the form during this window.
We hope you enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!
Sincerely,
Bethany Cunningham
Principal
Angel Tree Gift Donations
All gifts are due to Huggins Elementary by Monday, December 7th, 2020. This will allow for time to deliver presents to our families. Please write your assigned number on every wrapped present. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we ask that you drop off presents in the morning carline or between 7:30-10AM in the office. All deliveries are being coordinated by our counselors, Mrs. Evans and Mrs. Reddy.
Thank you and have a safe and happy holiday season!
If your child was invited to attend Cranium Club in the mornings from 7:00-7:30am, groups start the week of December 7th (Monday). Please be sure you have your car tag and have your student here promptly at 7:00 so that groups can get started.
With new students enrolling and families that have recently transitioned to on-campus instruction, please see the map below to review our car line procedures. Please be sure that you are utilizing Charger Way and not u-turning at the Irene Stern Community Center. Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and effective car rider line.
Please note that our doors open at 7:00am. To help the flow of our car rider line, please ensure that your child is ready to exit the car by having their mask on when you pull up. A reminder that our school day ends at 2:55pm this year. We are now dismissing at our standard time. We appreciate your patience as we continue to maximize the effectiveness of our car rider line. With the changes in protocols due to Covid-19, it is taking some additional time to load cars, as students are being dismissed from their individual classrooms.
Attendance Boundary Committee (Repeat)
This January, Lamar CISD will begin zoning for Morgan Elementary. If you’re interested in participating in this process as a member of the attendance boundary committee, please go to the Huggins website and click the Attendance Boundary Committee banner at the top of the page. If you have any questions about this process, please feel free to call the District office at (832) 223-0330.
Smart Tag Parent Portal (repeat)
The Parent Portal for SMART Tag was opened on Monday, September 21ST. Parents can now register and view their child’s ridership information via the Parent Portal. Parents may see when and where their child got on and off the bus via a webpage on their computer or smart device. They may also receive notifications via text that the bus will soon be at their morning stop. Additional information can be found by clicking here. The link provides detailed steps, including videos, on how parents can get registered.

Face Coverings (Repeat)
Students are required to bring two dress code approved masks/face coverings daily. One will be worn, and one additional mask/face covering will be brought in a sealed/ziploc bag. Labeling of the masks with a student name is suggested.
Mask questions we have received:
Can my child wear a face shield? Full-face shields may be used in place of a mask to protect eyes, nose, and mouth whenever a mask is not feasible or whenever the education context may benefit from the ability to see an individual’s full face.
Can my child wear a neck gaiter/buff? Yes, these are also approved.
Does the mask have to be a Huggins uniform color? No. Masks may be any color or design. However, no inappropriate language or images will be allowed.
***Please note that BSN Sports has graciously donated Huggins Hounds lanyards that will be given to students on the first day of school. Students will be able to use these lanyard to attach their masks so that they do not get lost.
Please click below for more information regarding face coverings.
