Welcome Back!
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. I also hope you are relaxed, recharged and ready to start a new school year. I am so delighted that I can be a part of your amazing learning community. I welcome and value your positive energy and dedication to excellence in education, and I look forward to working with you this year.
All signs point to an incredible and productive school year. In our conversations this summer I learned that you are a devoted staff and will only settle for the best when it comes to our children. Our enthusiastic office team of Mrs. Smith and myself have registered new families, resisted the departure of others, ordered needed materials, attended update meetings, worked on or maybe with the maintenance crew all while updating our school information as much as possible. Please be patient with us if there are outlying questions or concerns. We promise to try to address your needs as soon as we can or have the resources to do so.
Some years bring positive change that includes a few additions to our staff. We are delighted to welcome new staff that you will meet in our opening meeting on August 21st at 8:30 am in the multipurpose room.
As you may or may not know our school was lacking custodians this summer, but Ms. Wray and Mrs. Conroy filled in and became our hard working and conscientious custodians along the side of Mr. Borders. They spent time working to dispose of outdated materials, move furniture and clean and polish classroom floors. Unfortunately, we have had some additional workers in our tiny space that prevented them from doing all areas in a timely manner. Please bear with us as we are a work in progress. We have the brightest of bright lights now in our newly lowered ceilings. Just think we are just days away from a brand new parking lot and sidewalk entryways.
If you drove past the school not too much has seemed to change, (okay the parking lot is gone)but the promise is still out there for beautification on the 19th from the McAdenville Women's Club. They are planning to work their magic in our flower beds and around. If you'd like please stop by and say hello, thank them and even lend a helping hand as we make our community and school one.
Thank you in advance for helping me make our school beautiful both inside and out for our students to arrive. We will have a task for each of you to sign up or group together to help get ready for our boys and girls to arrive on August 24th for orientation and an even more special occasion on August 28th.
To accommodate space and program needs there have been a few room changes that I hope will better serve our students and staff.
Thank you to all who are helping prepare for the new school year by working at home studying or traveling to workshops. Your commitment to ensuring that McAdenville remains a celebrated and successful school is inspiring. I eagerly look forward to greeting students and families for the first time soon. Let me profess that it is an honor and privilege to serve as your principal.
Warmest Regards,
Workday Attendance Procedures
- All staff should work the same required hours on workdays as on normal instructional days or make arrangements to take the appropriate leave.
- On Staff workdays, you MUST sign in and out by the electronic system located in the school lobby.
- Optional workdays means that the district and/or the school cannot hold required meetings on those days.
- Mrs. Smith or Mr. Beverage will distribute a form prior to specific holiday workdays and end of year that asks you to indicate whether or not you will work; this must be returned to Mrs. Smith by the indicated deadline.
- On rare occasion, Ms. Rice reserves the right to negotiate optional workdays as flex-time with teachers for extended hours services to MES. Please do not assume that you can take time for a service without Ms. Rice's approval. You will lose annual leave/vacation, sick, personal or extended (bonus) leave time if you do not have flex time approved.
