First United Methodist Church Trussville Children's Ministry
Jesus Eases John’s Doubt: Matthew 11:1-6; Luke 7:18-23
“Then Jesus told her, ‘I AM the Messiah’ ” (John 4:26).
John the Baptist previously announced that Jesus was the Messiah, or rescuer.
But now, John is sitting in prison and wondering if Jesus really is the Messiah. He sends some friends to ask Jesus, and Jesus says they can tell John that
Jesus is the Messiah because of all his miracles.
Family Together Time
Use this fun family activity to reinforce the idea that Jesus, the Messiah, rescues us.
· Empty two laundry baskets.
· Put the same amount of toys or household objects inside each one.
· Weave string or yarn through the top holes so that you have somewhat of a spider web at the top of the basket.
· Form two teams. Have teams race to rescue all the objects from the basket—without their hands, arms, or the toys bumping the yarn. If someone bumps the yarn, he or she must drop the item back into the basket.
· Talk about what you had to do to rescue the items.
Talk About This…
What are interesting rescue stories you’ve heard?

Children ages 3-5k (6:15-7:00 p.m.) will meet downstairs in the children’s building for singing, ringing and Bible story time.
Children ages 1-4th grade (6:15-7:30 p.m.) will meet upstairs on the 2nd floor of the children’s building in the “Movie” room. For the next few weeks we'll be talking about and eating SNACKS! We love snacks. They taste good. But, even with all of their sweet, crunchy, salty, or chewy goodness; nothing compares to the goodness of our God.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.” - Psalm 34:8

CAMP SUMATANGA TIME!
Registration is now open for summer camp at Sumatanga. Each summer, children that have completed kindergarten-fifth grade enjoy a fun week at Camp Sumatanga (located about 40 minutes north of us in Gallant, AL).
Children that have completed kindergarten-second grade go to day camp Monday, June 12th -Friday, June 16th. The church will provide transportation to and from each day. Typically we take about 35 children to/from daily for an awesome experience. Friends are welcome to join us.
Overnight camp is for those children that have completed third-fifth grade. Parents will take their children to camp on Sunday, June 11th and pick them up on Friday, June 16th in the afternoon.
Each year, the church budgets for its families to receive funds to help pay for Sumatanga. Day campers receive $50 towards their cost of day camp ($135); overnight campers receive $150 towards their cost. This year, Sumatanga has a tiered fee schedule ($385/$425/$465) for overnight campers to best accommodate your budget. No matter which tier you select for your overnight camper your child’s experience is the same.
This year, if you register on-line you have to pay your entire balance upfront. Since church pays a portion of your child’s fee we are asking church families to fill out a paper application and give to Beth along with the $50 non-refundable deposit for each child for her to mail in. You can get your paper application by emailing Beth OR on-line at www.sumatanga.org. Feel free to contact Beth with any questions you may have.
