School office hours of 7:30-3:30 Monday-Friday are currently in effect.
What to know for the first days of school...
First day of school only - parents are welcome to walk students to their classroom beginning at 7:15am for a quick picture. Kindergarten is the exception as they will have through Wednesday, August 18th to adjust to their new classrooms and teachers. A Yahoo Boo-Hoo breakfast is provided by PTA in the library on the first day of school from 7:30-8:00 am where all new Kinder parents can meet and greet with one another as their little Gators get settled in.
All other days of the year - We open doors at 7:00 am and release students at 2:40pm. Class begins promptly at 7:30 and any students not in the classroom by 7:30 are counted tardy. Our AM carpool drop-off lines begin to back up at 7:15 am, so please plan accordingly!
Dismissal -
Bike riders and walkers - all students will exit the front, 4th, and 2nd grade doors. Kindergartners must have an older sibling or parent meet them to be released to walk home. Parents must have a yellow card sign* to pick up their child. Southfork bikers and walkers will be released at the gate in the rear of the building.
- Parent pick up - If you choose to pick up your child at the building, you must show your yellow card sign* for your child to be released. Without the yellow card sign you will need to show your driver's license ID to the front office. Students at campus will be monitored by staff in grade level lines until release.
- Carpool pick up - Place your yellow card sign* in the window on the passenger side so we can call your student to the car. Without the yellow card sign you will need to show your driver's license ID to the front office. We load 6 students at a time before moving all cars forward. Each student is provided a specific colored cone to meet you at your car's location.
- Southfork release change - All parent pick-up for our students released in the back for Southfork will be held at the awning in the back of the campus. Parents must have a yellow card sign* for staff to release the child to the parent.
*yellow card signs will go home at Meet the Teacher night, August 10th from 4-6pm or with your child on the first day of school
**Any students who need to leave before dismissal will need to have the office notified by 1:30 pm to ensure appropriate communication has been made to the students' change of dismissal.
Lunches -
The State of Texas will continue to provide free lunches from the school cafeteria to all students this year! ENJOY!
Kindergarten Adventure Awaits - The First Week of Kindergarten
*Dual students do not participate in Kindergarten Adventure
To best meet the needs of all students, your child will not be assigned to a specific teacher for the first three days of school. Instead, they will rotate through all of the Kindergarten classrooms (three per day) and enjoy the teaching styles of each unique Kindergarten teacher.
On Monday, August 16th, information will be sent home stating who your child’s teacher will be for the year. During Kinder Adventure, they will participate in crafts, games, singing, fine-motor activities, and educational lessons. These activities promote cooperation, problem-solving, and a sense of community. In addition to participating in rotations, your child will be assessed on basic number and letter concepts during the first three days of school. Using the information collected, our campus administration will facilitate the Kindergarten Team in creating classroom groups which balance the academic and social strengths and needs of our newest students for the 2021-2022 school year.

Groves PTA news
This year we signed up Groves PTA to receive cash rewards when people shop at Kroger. We also are hoping to get more people signed up to shop through AmazonSmile. We could make thousands of dollars in passive income if we encourage our teachers, staff, and parents to sign up for these programs.

Kroger Rewards
To Use the Kroger Community Rewards Program:
Simply encourage your participants to visit http://www.kroger.com. Once logged into their Kroger account they can search for Groves PTA either by name or QS637 and then click Enroll. New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address and a rewards card.

Construction Update
Our playground equipment has also been delayed for the first couple of weeks. However our incredible construction crew and WISD has made it possible for us to utilize the small side playground, gaga pit, and basketball goals. This allows our kids the chance to get outside and release that energy during recess! Great news!
