A family Newsletter: Week of October 2nd

Thank you!!

Thank you so much for everyone who participated in the fundraiser!! We are excited about the extra opportunities that we will be able to provide for our students! If you have not turned in your money, please do so to Mrs. Jones in the front office.

Parents, please make sure that you are sending your students to school each day dressed according to the District set Dress code. You may reference the Dress code here http://www.misd.gs/Domain/478 if you have any questions! Thanks so much!

Golden Nuggets from the Counselor

Thank you to all of our families. Because of your generous donations we collected $1621.96 to give to the American Red Cross to help support our Texas friends/family whose lives were impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

I have had the opportunity to be in many of our classrooms this month and I am quite impressed with our students here at Baxter. I am looking forward to getting to know more about our students and watching them grow academically and socially.

Be on the lookout for Red Ribbon Week information this next month. We have a special presentation for the students on Monday October 23rd.

The NED Show!!

The NED show is coming to Baxter. Mark you calendars- Monday October 23rd at 1:30. This is a whole school assembly. This is also the beginning of Red Ribbon Week.

Baxter's Hub- Nancy Robertson, Library Media Specialist

This week in the library...

We had our first Maker Monday this week. Students got to come down with their class to use the maker space activities such as building with cardboard, legos, marble run, building with cups and so much more! The fourth graders also came to the library to create Blackout Poetry. Students used pages from recycled books and created free verse poetry by blacking out the words that they did not use.

A Quick Note from Nurse Martin

Cold and Flu season is upon us. Be sure your kids are washing their hands and keeping their fingers away from their eyes, nose, and mouth. Be sure to cover coughs and sneezes using their elbows. Reminder that students must be fever free for 24 hours prior to returning to school. Here is a link for exclusions from school http://www.misd.gs/Page/656
