Lindsey Weekly Update
January 8, 2021
In-person return: Please make sure that you return to school on January 11th with your classroom chromebook and charger, water bottle, at least 2 face masks, headphones and winter weather attire.
Message from Mrs. Bellan
I hope each of you had a relaxing holiday and a successful transition to remote learning. We look forward to seeing the return of our in-person students next week. We will have a few former virtual students joining us second semester for in-person learning and we welcome these students. By and large, our students who opted for virtual learning first semester will remain virtual for the second semester. We sincerely appreciate our teaching staff and families for making this a highly successful option for these learners.
The second semester will be tremendously busy, as teachers have begun preparing for our second half of the year. Know that quarter 2 grades will be official on January 15th. Please log into IC to see your child's report card. Should you need a hard copy of your child's report card, please contact Mrs. Clucas at colleen.clucas@westg.org
We will be ramping up instruction to prepare our students for successful performance on Spring Ohio State Tests. As of this point, it will be expected that all of our students, both in-person and virtual, will be expected to sit for these important assessments. As the time draws near, we will be sure to inform you of these dates as well as specific ways that you can help prepare your children. With your partnership, we continue to aim for the highest levels of performance.
The week of January 18th, we will begin MAP testing for our 3-5 students. Please know these are important assessments that are used to monitor the growth of our students at our mid-year point. We will send information about your child's performance home shortly after the completion of these assessments.
Lastly, we have a few exciting things that we have been cooking up including an optional Spelling Bee for 4th and 5th graders who are interested in participating. Additionally, we are beginning Geauga County's first Girls on the Run club at Lindsey Elementary. Please see the information in this newsletter pertaining to both events.
Again, thank you for your support each step of the way. We remain optimistic that this semester will be our best yet!
Best,
Meagan
Lindsey's Spelling Bee
We will be hosting an electronic spelling bee for Lindsey's 4th and 5th graders on January 13th. If your child is interested in participating, please express interest by filling out the form no later than Monday, January 11, 2021.
This is completely optional and only will include students who express interest using this Google Form.
For students who move along to the district bee, this will occur on January 26th. The Lake-Geauga County Bee will be held on February 9th. We apologize for the late notice of these bee dates. Given the complications of COVID, the county bee date has just been confirmed and we are working quickly to ensure that our WG students have an opportunity to participate should they have an interest.
Complete this form if your 4th or 5th grader would like to be included in the Spelling Bee:
Headphones-In person Students
Teachers have noticed that in several classrooms, students report that their headphones are broken, missing, or at home which can impede classroom instruction.
Please make sure that your child has a working pair of headphones at school at all times.
Thank you,
