What's New in Room 182

Mrs. Peters' 3rd Grade * November 13, 2015

Reminders! Reminders!

Students will bring home packets of graded work on Monday from the past few weeks. Please look through these with your student and sign the cover of the packet. Your student needs to correct any errors marked on their work. I know that you are eager to see how they are doing, and it's important for them to be able to learn from their mistakes by making corrections. Please try to have packets returned by the end of the week.

Also, please be sure your third grader is coming to school with the proper outerwear. Even when it's nice and sunny, it's getting chillier out there at recess and dismissal times!

Mrs. Peters

Have you signed up to be a Mystery Reader?

Please consider spending part of your Friday morning with us as a guest reader, but shh... we can't know it's you!! More information and a sign-up page can be found here.

Please e-mail me with any questions or if alternate arrangements need to be made.

We hope to see you, or someone special to your third grader, on one of our mystery days!

Focus on the Curriculum

ELA

  • Weekly Prefix: contra-, counter- (against, opposite)

Please make sure your student is completing their Matching Activity in their Learning Log on Monday night. Also, they must complete five Spelling City activities at home (via web or app) during the weeknights to practice.

These assignments are required to be sure students are learning and processing these new word parts each week.

  • Fact & Opinion

For extra practice or clarification, try this lesson and practice here!

Math

  • Chapter 5: Multiplication and Division Facts

Students will continue with x3, x6, x4, and x8 multiplication facts this week. It is very important that your student work on memorizing their facts at home. Multiplication.com is a FANTASTIC resource with teaching points, games, and printable flashcards. Let me know if you need me to send home printed flashcards with your student.

Homework will be "Weekly Review #7", sent home Monday and due Friday.

Social Studies

  • Geography
We are continuing our "mini" study of continents this week. Students have added so much to our discussions from their prior knowledge and experiences!
