Dear Muskego Lakes Families,
For those of you who may not know, when our teachers are out of the building, we provide our guest teachers with information about how our school runs, detailed plans for them to continue instruction in the classroom, and seek out their feedback. We provide our guest teacher an MLMS Evaluation Form, in which we ask all guest teachers to rate us as a school anytime they are at our school.
It is so fun getting to read what the guest teachers write on the MLMS Evaluation Form, so we wanted to share a few comments that have stood out in the last few weeks:
- "I go to a lot of schools to sub in 7-8th grade, and the students here at your school are the most behaved in comparison to any other school I have been at."
- "I'm so very impressed with MLMS. From the office to classrooms to facilities, it is clean, well-run, supportive, and your students are exceptionally respectful. I would love to sub again anytime at your school."
- "Great school, helpful staff, and overall good school environment."
- "I had the pleasure of spending my day with MLMS students. They were so bright, creative, and helpful. The classes were all engaged and well behaved."
- "All the classes were amazing. They were great listeners and very cooperative in every single class."
- "I hope you all know that the kids at this school are like nothing I've seen before. They understand what it means to respect each other and that is obvious as a guest teacher. Great job with what you all are doing here."
- "Very well run school with great teachers, great students. Systems work very well and so nice to know the specific guidelines."
- "Uniformly exemplary- both in class and hallways and even the cafeteria. Students are so helpful to strangers like me. It says a lot about your school."
- "MLMS is well managed and the office staff and teachers are so helpful, warm, and welcoming to guest teachers."
- "Superior classroom management and school wide organization."
- "Everything went well all day long- in every way. I hope to come back here more often because it is obvious everyone cares about each other and even about guest teachers who they don't even know."
- "I love this school. The teachers are very professional and helpful. The students are polite and fun. The students know what is expected of them and it shows with their etiquette and manners. Thanks for being a great school to sub for!"
- "Of all the middle schools I have been to in the last couple years, these students are by far the most respectful and well behaved. They understood the balance between having fun and getting work done. I am so impressed. The teachers here have clearly done an amazing job implementing long-term values into these kids."
We love that our guest teachers see what we do on a daily! We couldn't be prouder of our students!
With Love,
Rachel Rydzewski & Nancy Pasch

Input Needed About Communication from Muskego Lakes
This year, our teachers have been hard at work to make sure they are meeting your needs as partners in your child's education. A few ways we communicate with families about your child's learning are:
- Infinite Campus portal
- Student learning portfolios for reading and math
- Quarterly report cards with personalized comments
- Weekly newsletters from principals
- Monthly newsletters from grade level teams
- School's social media (ie Facebook and Twitter)
- Notes/Calls/Emails home celebrating students' hard work and progress
One thing we wanted to check in with you about was the grade level newsletters. So, please take two minutes to complete this short survey to help us best meet your needs. The survey link can be found HERE, and will close on Tuesday, February 15th.
Parent/Teacher Conference Sign-Ups Open!

How to Schedule Your Conference on Meet the Teacher Platform
Step 1: Login

You must enter information as it is in Infinite Campus.
Use Samantha not Sam, if Infinite Campus uses your daughter's full name
When entering an email address, ensure it is one associated with the Infinite Campus profile
If you have multiple children, you can decide which child's information to use. They will all give you family access to schedule for all of your children.
A confirmation of your appointments will be sent to the email address you provide.
Step 2: Select Parent Teacher Conference
Click on the date you wish to book.
Unable to make all of the dates listed? Click I'm unable to attend.

If you chose the automatic booking mode, you'll see provisional appointments which are held for 2 minutes. To keep them, choose Accept at the bottom left.
If it wasn’t possible to book every selected teacher during the times you are able to attend, you can either adjust the teachers you wish to meet with and try again, or switch to manual booking mode (Step 6b).
Step 6b (Manual): Book Appointments
Skip this step if you chose Automatic.
Click any of the green cells to make an appointment. Blue cells signify where you already have an appointment. Grey cells are unavailable.
To change an appointment, delete the original by hovering over the blue box and clicking Delete. Then choose an alternate time.
You can optionally leave a message for the teacher to say what you’d like to discuss, or raise anything beforehand. Once you’re finished booking all appointments, at the top of the page in the alert box, press click here to finish the booking process.

Important Safety Reminders for Drop-Off/Pick-Up
When designing our drop-off lanes, we focused on two main areas: safety and capacity. To achieve both, we need all families to follow the procedures.
- Pull all the way forward in the drop-off/pick-up lane. Fill in all available space before stopping. Stopping too soon negatively impacts the lane in two ways: (1) it reduces the capacity of the lane, causing a backup and slowing down the flow of cars and (2) cars stopping too soon or multiple times surprises families behind them, which could lead to a fender bender.
- Proceed slowly once you enter the main drive of Muskego Lakes. Many individuals are outside of our building, in vehicles, and on foot; excessive speed puts everyone in danger.
- Stay in a single file line and only drop-off or pick-up by the designated area. We ask that you stay in the drop-off/pick-up lines and do not pull out to bypass parts of the line or others dropping-off/picking-up. If this happens, it negatively impacts the systems in two ways: (1) it causes a safety concern for pedestrians, and (2) cars pulling out to pass and then moving back into the line causes congestion and could surprise families leading to a fender bender.
Thank you for your attention to these procedures and for helping us keep safety a number one priority!

Can You Help Support Our Service Projects?
Next Friday, all students will participate in their 3rd Community Day of the 2021-22 school year. We are thrilled to announce that in addition to strengthening relationships with their teachers and peers, they will also be impacting our Muskego community by selecting from 19 different service projects they’d like to participate in!
A huge thanks to those families who checked out our Amazon Wishlist last week and generously purchased activity supplies! This cut the costs of the service projects tremendously. This week, there are a few more things we are continuing to look for:
Service project: making tie blankets for local animal shelters
We ask that you please consider donating your old bedsheets and pillowcases.Service project: making tie blankets for the local chapter of Project Linus
We ask that you please consider donating a 1-yard piece of fleece fabric. It does not matter the pattern, and on-sale is always a plus! If you'd rather, you can help purchase fabric by sending donations via venmo to @muskegolakesPTO and comment "fleece community day".
A heartfelt thank you from the MLMS staff for your consideration. All questions can be directed to Sarah Bauhs at sarah.bauhs@muskegonorway.org

2022 - Muskego Youth Summer Basketball Camps
Muskego Youth Basketball camps are a special way to grow as a young basketball player and as an individual. There are numerous opportunities throughout the entire summer to get involved with the Muskego basketball program. Participation is open to everyone from newcomers to experienced players as camps will focus on every aspect of the game. Each day and each session will teach the game of basketball to future Muskego Warriors with the ultimate goal being to grow players’ love for the sport.
Although various skills will be emphasized at different camps, what will remain constant are the incorporation of the three main standards of the Muskego basketball program:
- Selflessness - Contribute positively in any way that you can all while making those around you better, and recognizing that it is not about you, it is about us.
- Listen and Learn - Always be striving to learn more to better yourself and the team.
- Hard work - Your success is determined by your hard work, and the greatest out work everyone.
*All camps are located at Muskego High School and are for both boys and girls!*
Camp Director: Coach Cerroni - kameron.cerroni@muskegonorway.org
To sign-up for summer basketball camps, visit www.muskegobasketballcamps.com
There will be different options for summer camps this year: Grade Level Camp, Offensive Skills Camp, Future Warriors Camp, Competition Camp, Last Chance Camp and Small Fry Camp. At each camp, players will be able to take the skills and knowledge that they learned and use it on their own outside of the camps.

Speak Up, Speak Out Wisconsin
Our staff at Muskego Lakes take threats seriously. We are grateful for our partnership with students and parents as they continue to be invested in their school culture as we all work together to keep our schools safe. We encourage all families to talk about how a child should respond to any threat or concern, regardless of the source or legitimacy. If a student or parent is not comfortable going directly to a district staff member, they can use Wisconsin's Speak Up, Speak Out that will notify a school administrator and/or police authorities immediately. Speak Up, Speak Out! Speak Up, Speak Out is managed by the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety.
You may make a report by visiting the website, using your smartphone by downloading the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT app from the Apple Store and Google Play, or by calling 1-800-MY-SUSO-1 to speak to a resource center analyst.
