The fascinating country of Turkey is something to learn about. The country of Turkey is a little bigger than the state of Texas in the U.S. It is a country that bridges the continents of Asia and Europe. 70% of its people live in cities or towns and they are rich in mineral sources. The climate varies throughout the country, they have hot,dry summers and cold, snowy winters. For people who live in coastal areas experience hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters.

What's going on in the Middle East


Desalinization- the process used to make seawater drinkable. Desalination plants have improved in the last two decades because water is a rare commodity in the Middle East. Both thermal and osmosis are being used in Saudi Arabia running the worlds largest thermal desalination plant.


Aquifer- an underground rock layer that water flows through. In certain parts in the Middle East there are contaminated aquifers which makes the water hard to drink. So that's what people are bringing water bottles for the people to drink.

What is OPEC?

OPEC stands for The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. They make up 40% of the worlds oil. They also take a huge role in influencing the worlds oil price. It was created at the Baghdad Conference on Sept. 10-14, 1960 by Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Venezuela.

Who were the Berbers?

The Berbers were the first known people to live in North Africa. They are distributed in an area stretching from the Atlantic Ocean to the Siwa Oasis in Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea to the Niger River. Today most Berber people live in Northen Africa countries mainly Algeria and Morocco.

Libya's oil money is used most on what?

The money they use mostly on building schools and hospitals to help heal and educate people. It's also used import its food to feed the citizens. Also they use it to maintain a strong military by supplying weapons and etc.
